"From Village to Vizag" - Mayank Goswami, IIM Visakhapatnam

"From Village to Vizag" - Mayank Goswami, IIM Visakhapatnam

I would like to relate ABG CSR work and how it inspired me. With an aim to actively contribute to social and economic development of various communities in which they operate and to build a better, sustainable way of life and raise the human development index. I have been influenced by their philosophy of caring and giving which is embedded in Birla faimly. In my graduation days , I was a normal student. I was not aware of any CSR activity and always had a doubt why I should waste my time for these things. But then I came across ABG Hindalco's initiative in Balrampur, Chattisgarh, through YouTube and read about why it should be done and how it contributes to the society. And that was the day when I used to be clueless and and today when I am writing this I am feeling very proud in sharing with you all that I have contributed to the society by involving myself whenever I got the chance be it by helping poor , organizing donation camps, tree plantation. It gives me a sense of satisfaction when I am involved in these work. I was part of a free health checkup camp where I came across villagers who were in the urgent need of medical help but do to financial constraints they never thought of the treatment. I took help from WHO volunteer and informed them about the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and they got their treatment done. Now I have developed a keen interest in being a part and contribute as much as I can for the betterment of the society. All thanks to ABG!.

Aditya Birla Group An Important Part Of My Life -Abhijeet Singh, IIM Visakhapatnam

In the year 1857 we had the first war of independence against British but it was also the year a young Marwari founded a group that was going to spread across 35 countries and would have around 120,000 employees across the world. Being from Rajasthan myself  I'm proud to be part of the rich cultural heritage of my state and immensely grateful to the glory the Birla Group has brought to us. Since the past 162 years Birla family generations after generations have been crown jewel of Indian industries making impact over the world.

“Life hits hard to those who have the ability to stand against all odds”. In my childhood, I always believed that the challenges and hurdles that are going to come to my life will never be strong enough to knock me down. But with time, this feeling started fading away and I considered myself not good enough to excel. This pessimistic feeling got reflected in my personal and professional life and I begin to keep myself away from networking with people to hide my low self-esteem. Though my family and friends have always supported me and have faith on my potential but I continued to pity myself over minor failures. Until one fine summer afternoon, I had started considering myself a mediocre who will never be able to prove herself. That day I was working hard since morning to finish my task and suddenly it struck me that how mundane my life has become. I can perfectly predict my entire week without any error. I felt very sad and called one of my very good friends to come out of this feeling. Talking to her rejuvenated me and I decided to work harder this time to crack one of the prestigious exams in the country that is cat. Being an amateur in this field, I contacted few of my friends who were preparing and who have cracked it. It took eight months of hard work where I juggled between my job and studies to crack this exam and get into IIM Visakhapatnam. Today, when I look back I feel that those sufferings were a boon in disguise and finally I have restored faith in myself and working hard to expedite my life without moaning over petty hurdles.

Dream On - It's Just The Beginning| Aayush Gupta, IIFT

It’s a hot and humid afternoon of North India, and the students are sitting inside a small crammed up classroom of a coaching center and suddenly the aroma of Aloo ka Parantha and Aam ka achar fills my nostrils, reminding me how hungry I was. I quickly opened my lunchbox in which my mother had packed my food with freshwrapp, I just had a morsel when I realised, I am the center of attraction of some 50 odd students. This is one of my fondest memories of the time when I was preparing for my Engineering entrance exam, where our hard work was sandwiched with such small joys. Down the line this hard work paid off and I got into the prestigious Delhi College of Engineering. But this meant I had to leave my hometown Roorkee and move to the fast-paced life of Delhi. The transition was difficult and the changes here made me seriously question my approach. I faced numerous challenges, one of which was looking professional because your appearance is the first thing anyone notices. I knew I had to work on it and that’s when I found Allen Solly, which not only helped me find a smart range of casuals for my classes but also the right business attire for my placements.

Where Courage And Heart Conquered The Past Which Made Strong Individual Believer!

Where Courage And Heart Conquered The Past Which Made Strong Individual Believer!

My father passed away when I was just 5 years old. For my upbringing, my mother started her own business of selling garments. She taught me how to live contently with meagre resources, even when one is not favored by luck. Though I saw poverty from close quarters, my mother ensured that my upbringing was comfortable. Unfortunately, I lost her at the age of 11. My world came to a stand-still, and I had absolutely no clue as to what was happening to my world. Subsequently, the issue of my guardianship turned out to be a matter of much confrontation between my mother's family and father's family. Eventually, my elder uncle(mama) and aunt(mami) took over my guardianship and since then, they’ve treated me like their own son. They ensured that I got good education and have supported me in all walks of life. And I really owe them everything for always supporting me.
