We created history. MYRA School of Business became the first B school in India to place students with CTC packages between Rs. 15 and Rs. 24 lacs in cutting edge technology companies in its first placement season.
Nostalgia gripped the air when I stepped into my alma mater for the alumni reunion event - Equinox. I immediately remembered working throughout the day and night for this event last year! There was a feeling of pride and excitement as I was eager to see the campus and its new developments! The entire campus, my home for one full year, was decked up in a Punjabi style theme with all its charm still alive! And here I was up and agog to meet my friends and relive the experience of a year in two days!!
The Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) at IIM Indore is aimed at mid- to senior-level executives who desire to upgrade and sharpen their existing skill set. It is a 1-year, full time residential program that dovetails into the real-life corporate scenario of today, where disruptions are constant, scenarios remain in flux and organization goal posts shift rapidly. It helps executives, experiencing the offshoots of such an environment already, to step back and re-stock themselves with renewed academic and intellectual armour.
The other day, I was at the bank to run some errands when the manager politely asked me if I had a few moments to spare. He wanted my opinion on something “urgent”. I agreed and he led me to his office. It turns out that the fellow was the branch head and we were soon sitting in his office. All this time, I kept wondering what possible subject could the branch manager want my opinion? It didn’t take long for me to find out.
Pursuing an MBA is indeed a great investment towards future-proofing your career. But how much mileage you are able to derive from your MBA experience relies, not in any small measures, on the level of preparation, and the level of learning, you come into an MBA program with. And there is nothing like a good on-the-job experience to prepare you for a fruitful MBA journey.
Over the last few months, we have been peppered with queries about the one year residential Executive PGP programmes at the IIMs. We have finally decided that EPGP students at the IIMs would be the ones best placed to answer them.
