Did you know that Marico buys 1 out of every 25 coconuts produced in India? Before joining Marico as a fieldwork intern, I certainly didn’t. While stories about the distribution network of Marico are well known, I figure the stories about their supply chain must be legendary. In my previous article, I tried to understand the values that Marico stands for. As I tried to understand how the sourcing works, I also realized that it exemplifies one of the core values of Marico – transparency and openness.
Every day, by the time I reach the office, a hum of industry has settled over the building. Heads are bent, fingers are flying at a frantic pace, the air reverberates with conversations and laughter. I am working in the Research and Development office (better known as ‘Technology’ here in Marico), and am assailed with nerdy jokes and solvent smells all day.
The Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi successfully organized OP’ERA’16, the Operations Conclave. The session was focused on the theme- "Logistics 2.0". Panel was chaired by Mr. Dharmesh Srivastava, VP Supply Chain, Agro Tech Foods Ltd, and co-chaired by Mr. Soumya Kanth Dwivedy, Head Supply Chain, Becton Dickinson and Company.
Myntra, owned by Flipkart recently acquired Jabong for $ 70 million in cash from Global Fashion Group (GFG). This came after GFG had received multiple bids in the past one year from firms like Amazon, Snapdeal, Aditya Birla Group & Future Group.
