Sangharsh 2013, the annual sports meet between IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Lucknow, which was hosted by IIM Calcutta concluded with a lot of action and closely contested battles across a gamut of sports yesterday, with IIM Calcutta emerging as the overall champions of Sangharsh 2013. The sports meet was held over a period of 3 days (11th to 13th January 2013)

InsideIIM caught up with Aditya Radhakrishnan, Deputy Manager - Marketing (KamaSutra) at Raymond Ltd. He is an alumnus of IIM Indore and was part of the Klueless Team in 2009 (Klueless is IIM Indore's legendary online game that attracts millions of page views each year). We thought it would be great to talk to a graduate 2 years into his marketing job. During his last 2 years, he had a great opportunity to be part of an exciting product launch - KamaSutra's 'KS' Energy Drink. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious BITS, Pilani and has worked with HSBC in the past.
Grace is no one's private property or entitlement. It is not inherited nor passed on. It does not come by design or power. It just comes to a person when he finds that equilibrium between peace and confidence. It's not limited to expensive ballroom parties and exotic beach escapades. It is not monopolised by the long-legged, the well-heeled and the well-trained. And finding grace is a matter of chance. If you are seeking it, you may as well find it in a non-descript sailors' bar by the sea front, among old men, drunk at 10am, doing the samba to a Konkani number. You can't help but feel jealous of how well they do it. More importantly, how much joy they find in it. Here are fat, old men, in their dirty tshirts and soiled shorts, without a dancing partner, doing the samba that would have shamed most yuppie kids trying to learn the dance at expensive dance studios in Bombay and Delhi. They try to teach grace here in Goa as well - at the gymkhanas and schools and colleges - and while anyone can dance, not everyone can do it gracefully and give as much pleasure to the watcher as to the doer.
I am not being bold here. I am fairly confident it will happen. In fact, we can even predict which of the older 6 IIMs will have 100 women. It is based on experience and the already announced shortlisting criteria of all the IIMs.
We continue the consulting series with realistic job previews of various consulting roles, describing what a B-school campus recruit at the associate/consultant/senior consultant level can expect from such roles. Pardon me if the actual job descriptions sound somewhat quotidian, unremarkable and deglamorized, for that is exactly the idea – to get to the meat of the job and see what it tastes, rather than ruminating over every company’s banal PR spin about its unique work culture. Basically, All consulting recruits from campus can expect a mixture of project work and business development (BD) support work.
