After a well organised induction, we joined our respective sectors. I got posted at the Group Corporate Office with the GMC Team. I had already met my guide and buddy during the induction, as they took care of the entire process. After a fruitful discussion and expectation setting with both of them, it was now time to get down to business.

The Avengers-Endgame movie which released this Friday has been running to packed houses. Each and every person going to watch the movie is having a blast, including myself. Being a student from a B-School, I could not help but draw parallels between the characteristics of my dream company to the characteristics they possessed.
Mahindra's GMC program provides opportunities to the Summer Interns to work in one or the other sectors and companies of the group. The next phase of our internship journey has exposed us to our respective sector (mine being Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services), it's businesses, industry and the future growth. We were supposed to meet with our respective guide, mentor and buddy to set clear goals and deliverables for the project.
After the induction week got over, we were given further details of our individual assignments, and therefore, I went to my assigned office. I got better understanding of my project and was introduced to the team at my assigned office. The team was nice and assured me of help and support that I would need during the course of my project. After that, I spoke to my manager and gained better insight into my project and thus began my week.
With the induction formally completed, it was time to put on the hats of a Mahindra employee and start working on the project. The GMC internship, being a very structured program, helped me get acquainted with my project mentor pre joining and we were in regular touch during the on boarding process. This helped break the ice between the two of us and made me comfortable to work with my mentor from Day 1 of the project.
Post an engaging induction week, where we came to know the about the federation of businesses that belonged to the M&M group, we were sent to our respective ‘ground zero’ locations for our projects. My project required me to travel to ‘Garden and IT City of India’ - Bangalore, where I had been allotted a project in the auto division. The project details were communicated in advance by Mr. Aakash Parihar from the GMC Group HR team. I reached out to my project buddy – Mr. Pankaj Deshmukh – Regional Head of Sales, and my project mentor Mr. Manoj Gupta – Zonal Head of Sales. They were happy to share some of the focus points of the project and an overview of the automotive industry in the south over call before the internship began. This helped me carry out my secondary research before kick-starting the project.
