Now that you have made it to the crème de la crème, you suddenly find yourself in this quandary. As clubs and committee selections are about to start, you have a taxing decision to make - should you join them or focus on academics? I am in no capacity to recommend where and how you should divert your focus, but I can definitely tell you why you should be joining a club or a committee.
At the stroke of midnight, on the 30th of June 2017, as the entire country was being put to sleep by the long speeches in the central hall of the parliament, many (like me) struggled to stay awake to witness our Tryst with Destiny - Part 2, the roll out of the “landmark” Goods and Services Tax (GST). As the Prime Minister and the President awkwardly pushed the buttons on a large mysterious box, the letters G S T dawned on the parliamentary screens followed by a rather intelligent use of industrial and domestic noises of a well-produced music video. The video ended by rechristening GST as “Good and Simple Tax”.

With all the dust around onboarding and induction into MBA colleges having slowly settled down, it is the season for committee selection processes, which are in no way less equal to the company placement processes. With already a month having passed, the senior committee of the placement savvy campuses by this time would have successfully elected their Junior Placements team choosing the creme de la creme of the talents who had walked in, trying to impress upon with their skillset in a very brief duration.
The happiness that you get when you finally get into the top business school after the stressful months of preparation for the most awaited exams of the year, writing applications and essays, just to get into one of the top colleges. So you thought that was it? Wait till you take your first class. That’s when the realisation hits you like a bullet. We hardly plan little further than that. I remember preparing for CAT, one of the tutors told something which I can never forget, "Do not think you are preparing to get into a b-school, CAT tests you how good you would be after going to a b-school, as a future manager".
