The Dichotomy of Work Experience Before MBA

Walk into the introductory session of any class in any B-school, and a quintessential question that you would hear would be – “How many of you here have had the experience of working in an organization before?”. It must be duly noted that the afore-mentioned issue does not only arise in such classes, but quietly keeps tapping on our shoulders ever since we start thinking about pursuing an MBA degree. Separate points for work experience in the many entrance examinations and that too distributed non-uniformly across the duration of it – the entire mathematics that goes behind it is simply mind-boggling! But the importance of this coveted parameter can be truly judged once life in a B-school is underway.

Well well… November is here, so are the winters and so is the preparation time for final placements.

Summer Placements : IIM Indore – Class of 2014 -16

This was the largest batch across IIMs (a total of over 550 students, with the IPM program also being included in the summer placement process). After the stellar performances of XLRI Jamshedpur, TISS and FMS Delhi, IIM Indore too has enjoyed a great run this season.

Summer placements this season have been something of a party, at least at top B schools. Students from here have been making their joy known on Facebook, and for once, the draconian Placecoms didn't seem to mind. From the victory dance at MDI Gurgaon, to euphoria at IIM L, B schools are having a good time. XLRI is having a great time. For the second year in succession, XLRI is the first to report its summer placements on InsideIIM. Summer placements were excellent for the batch of 2015 last year , especially in the form of a greater width and depth of profiles in finance. This year, it is even better.
