IIM Lucknow management students Jannat Talwar and Shubham Jain have converted one of the most sought-after job offers at any B-School. Join us in this 6-part series, where they talk about their journey to getting a PPO at McKinsey.
I still remember the day when I got the news that I will be interning with “The Aditya Birla Group” and the thoughts of the Grandeur Welcome at ITC Grand started flooding through my mind. Indeed, it was a dream come true but what followed was something that I had never even dreamt of, presenting the story of ABG’s “Intern of the Year”.
When Rajan said, “You’re so lucky to have bagged a PPO from Unilever”, I gently nodded my head in agreement, but deep down I knew that it wasn’t just luck. It was luck meeting the meticulous execution of an ardent marketer’s dream. A dream that I had envisioned close to a year back. A dream that fuelled me to do my best, a dream that made me out perform, a dream that came true. Today, as I see scores of freshmen ablaze with the fire to crack summers at the doyens of marketing world (HUL, ITC, P&G, RB, Nestle, Marico, among others) I feel the need of sharing my preparation journey with them. What follows is months of planning penned down into a brief set of words, here it goes:
How do you know you have had a successful internship? By cracking a PPO? No, that's just the result. Development Assessment Centres exercises are the key to gauging your performance. With exercises like Presentations, Role-Playing, Consensus Building, etc which are customised for each intern, you can expect a fun yet informative measure of your performance. Watch two b-school students in conversation about how they fared the assessment centre activities.
This NMIMS student was one of the 4 interns at Reliance who spent some time at the Jamnagar plant as a part of her internship. A new place, a new role, but that didn't stop it from being like a family. A small group but increased cohesiveness. And what better way to seal a new friendship than with icecreams? And with colleagues like that, who needs friends? Watch this video to know more!
What if we told you that your internship needn't be the most boring 2 months of your life? You can go for cricket matches in stadiums, you can experience the crazy life of the Maximum City - Mumbai, you can learn how to swim, you can have a perfect work-life balance, and you have the freedom to do your project the way you want to do it. Sounds interesting? That's exactly how this IIM Kozhikode student spent her summer at Reliance. Watch this video to know more.
