Business Schools this year faced an extremely tough challenge like any other industry. Whether it was successfully onboarding the batch of 2022, or to help the existing 2021 batch with their summer internship offers. The challenge was to keep up the standards of quality in education, facilitate campus placements, and shape the overall personality of the candidates remotely. New processes and structures had to be placed overnight and one such evolved process this year would be centered around the selection of candidates for the upcoming batch of 2023.
January has been a very eventful month. The CAT results have finally been released, and multiple exams like XAT, SNAP and NMAT have been conducted, with IIFT to be conducted later in the month. B-school calls have now begun to come out as well, and some of the newer IIMs have released their selection criteria for admission to the batch of 2023. Two major exams in this admissions season have now been completed - CAT 2020 and XAT 2021, IIM Rohtak has released its interesting admission policy, and details of 100 percentilers in CAT 2020 have been revealed! Meet Suvam Dhar, IIFT 99.83%iler. Suvam got interested in MBA during his final placement season at engineering college. Without much preparation and time, Suvam prepared for CAT amidst prep for other exams. When CAT didn’t go well for him, Suvam knew that he could attempt other entrance exams to redeem himself. He took his mistakes from CAT as learnings and decided to make sure that his IIFT entrance exam went well. With barely a week between CAT and the IIFT entrance, Suvam didn’t have much time to prepare. But he focused on previous years’ question papers and got a feel of the paper pattern. He felt relatively confident and prepared for IIFT. During the exam itself though, another surprise was awaiting him. Having strategized and prepared for a 100 marks paper, Suvam and other test takers were thrown for a loop when the exam was for 300 marks instead of the initial 100! In this video, he takes us through how he cracked the IIFT entrance exams despite those odds and made it to IIFT Delhi!
