Why ABG holds a special place in my heart - Soumik Roy, IMT Ghaziabad

Why ABG holds a special place in my heart - Soumik Roy, IMT Ghaziabad

Growing up in an upper middle class household in Delhi, my exposure to foreign brands was extremely limited. Clothing was a case in point. At that point, my one source of high quality, fashionable clothes completely in sync with global fashion ‘norms’ was either AllenSolly or Louis Phillipe. It was much later in my life that it was Aditya Birla Group who owned these brands and helped an under confident , lanky 11 year old kid feel like he was a super star. Aditya Birla Group was also responsible for the first time I saw an actual Merger and Aquisition happen in real life, a term that would become ubiquitous during my MBA many years later - The aquisition of L&T Cement from L&T by ABG and rebranding it to UltraTech cement, the ads were all over. It is through these small lessons and ways that ABG has touched my life ever since my childhood, making it an indispensable part of my upbringing. Today, ABG is one of the largest conglomerates not just in India, but around the world and has been touching many lives around the world in the same way that it helped me gain confidence and feel belonging through a thing as simple as a piece of cloth. Thank you ABG.

Aditya Birla Group- Ever there, Vansh Mittal- IMT Ghaziabad

Aditya Birla group, the brand which has been ever here for the Indians since Indian Independence, even after catering stellar products & services in the domestic market, it has also created impact globally. I cannot count the number of times, I have visited ABG’s Planet fashion stores which has become my one-stop shopping solution. From the Freshwraps that my mother used to wrap my chapatis in. From those Van Heusen shirts that my dad used to look handsome in. From every grain of that Ultra Tech cement that built the beautiful home I spent my childhood in. To the Vodafone Idea network that I use now to publish this article. The morals and values that ABG stands for, have formed a great part of my memories and aspirations. It is not only the products that make ABG big in my life. But how it unfailingly and unflinchingly delivers every time with quality and precision. What makes ABG big for me; is that the brand has a soul associated with it. One that has a taste, and the vision to do it. The uniqueness of the brand has always been the larger than life picture of it. We all come across several brands every day. Of different kinds. Holding different purposes. But it is difficult to find one that can cater to such diverse audience with such diverse aspirations. For everytime that my parents send me a parcel now in my B-School; it invariable travels through the conveyer belt which probably holds the Birla Carbon in it. For everytime I buy my fruits from More; ABG stands as the enabler of it. For everytime I quickly dress up in my formals for a corporate session, ABG is the fibre that I can trust. ABG is the idea that breaks the status quo. The idea that breaks the mirage; and turns it into a goal. My goal.

How difficult is it to let go of everything you have ever known? When you have spent your whole life in one place and consider it your world, the prospect of ever having to leave grips you with fear. This is the story of a teenager who went through the exact same scenario. On the evening of her sixteenth birthday she pranced into her living room, calling over her shoulder “Ma! I’m going out with my friends.” “Okay”, her mother replied, “but be back soon. Your father and I have something to discuss with you.” “Must be my birthday gift”, she thought to herself with glee. “You got it!” she said before taking off at full speed to spend the day with her friends whom she had known all her life. As usual the evening was full of fun and games, laughter and teasing, leg-pulling and warm hugs.
