Aditya Birla Group is an Indian conglomerate and was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. Since then, Aditya Birla group has offered innovative products and services, and also reached out to millions globally. It has its presence in 35 countries and has approximately 120,000 employees worldwide. Operating in different sectors, ABG is the world’s second largest company in telecom. After the Vodafone- Idea merger, all I can say is ‘What an idea Sirji’.

Ever since I was a child, I was never forced into activities or paths unreasonably by my parents. They had their expectation just like any other parent would but they were rational and doable. That helped me explore many things about my surroundings and learn about myself. My capabilities and shortcomings.

ABG for Sustainable World - TAPMI

Ever since childhood, I had been using Aditya Birla Group products, most of them unknowingly. Be it in the form of fashion products that I wear or the cement that had been used to build my home, ABG presence in my life is very evident. Post two years of work, I joined TAPMI and I had to give a presentation for Managerial Communication course about a company. The first company that came to my mind is ABG group and I had selected Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Limited as my company for presentation. We are a group of five to present this and I chose to discuss about the sustainability practices of the company. Then, I downloaded the annual report of the company and I was so amused to witness the kind of contributions that company is investing for a sustainable development. Company runs the sustainability programs through ReEarth campaign and I was intrigued with its vision statement – “We are committed to give back more than what we take from our eco-system”. Some of the key contributions towards sustainability development are the contribution in savings of 27.2 KWH of electricity which resulted in reduction of 2230 tCO2 through investing 9.57 crores in Energy Mission, achieving zero waste going to landfills by ensuring disposal of hazardous and e-waste through authorized vendors, recycling and reusing 54% of water through waste water recycling systems and rainwater harvesting system. My respect towards ABG group has increased manifold after glancing through their sustainability initiatives in various sectors.
