How did I overcome the challenges in my life and how you can too!

How did I overcome the challenges in my life and how you can too!

I have always been quite studious during my school days. Teachers always had great expectations from me. During my 10th std just a week before my board exams were to commence, my father was diagnosed with a clot in his brain. This unwelcome news shook my family quite a bit. My father was admitted in the hospital and due to some medical conditions he couldn’t recognize us. All he could remember about his life was his school days and nothing about his present life. I was heartbroken and hopeless that our lives were going to change forever. I didn’t want to let down my teachers, parents and most importantly myself. So, I started going to hospital and study there. I didn’t let the fate decide my destiny, I fought back to create one for myself. My father started gradually responding to the medication and I understood the practicality of the situation and didn’t let anything distract me. I took my exams and performed well. When my father came home recovered I got my results and he was very happy to learn that his little daughter topped the school. So, how I overcame the challenges in my life?I believed that my capabilities are infinite. Not because I secured first rank in my school but because the circumstances were such that if I focused on the problems, they would become stronger than me.

ABG's Big Role in My Life!

ABG's Big Role in My Life!

It’s believed that clarity in thoughts gives direction to actions. This might sound like a known territory to you all as we all have been through moments of self doubt and then reassurances. One fine Sunday morning, I sat disturbed with lack of confidence in beautifully meticulously constructed temple with white marble stone. Yes, I was at Birla Mandir in Hyderabad. But the chaos within me wouldn’t let me embrace the beauty of outside world. Coming from an academically inclined family, I wanted to make my mark. My eyes then fell on sculpted portrayal of Arjuna bowing down to Lord Krishna with the latter standing tall and sharing his wisdom of Dharma and Karma. I kept gazing at it for a very long time. I felt a sense of calmness while pondering over what the sculpture stood for. That was a lesson for me to give my best at everything without being too keen on the results. That’s the way to enjoy the process. That’s the value of the Aditya Birla Group. They started small and humble. Shiv Narayan Birla started as a small cotton trader and expanded his business, updated his knowledge, sought opportunities and kept giving his best to become one of Asia’s largest business groups.  Right from fashion to electrical appliances to Railways and Roads, ABG has made it bigger and better for us. The many hospitals, schools, research institutes they run continue to serve people all over the world. They have been inspiring people by their actions and I am more than happy to be influenced by them.

The quote you see in the title is what Stan Wawrinka, a Swiss Tennis player got tattooed on his arm after he won his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, 2014 against Novak Djokovic, after losing to him in their previous 14 encounters. It embodies the quote, “You fail when you refuse to get back up” perfectly. That's exactly what motivates me when I am faced with a failure, or prospective failure so big and intimidating that it crushes me, almost, but never completely.

I was born in Muzaffarpur Bihar and grew up in West Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and few more States. It was due to my father profession. He was in private company which handled the logistics of other companies. Generally those companies were cement industries. While all these transfers and different states we got a chance to be in vikaram nagar. Vikaram nagar was a small place in Madhya Pradesh near Rajasthan border. Nearly 35 km from Chittorgarh.
