Life is nothing without challenges. They make us stronger and without them, life becomes somewhat meaningless because we have nothing to compare the good times to. Like most of us, I have had many challenges in my life that made me cry, that deterred me at times, that made me question my abilities, but I would see them as tough times and opportunities that helped me build a tougher shield and enabled me to evolve as a stronger more confident individual.
I lost my dad when I was 10. As a result, my view of the world also changed. Before he died, I was young, innocent, and naive. I saw God’s beauty in the smallest things – plants starting to bud, cocooning butterflies, the exact color blue of the sky. When I had questions, Dad would answer them. He always had the answers. The world had infinite joys to discover and I had endless curiosity. Life seemed to go on forever and I never thought about death. After the funeral, all that changed. I lost my parent, my hero, and my teacher. I thought a lot about death and dying. I still had plenty of questions, but nobody to answer them. And they certainly weren’t fun questions. I still had many unfulfilled desires and dreams. Completing my primary education, studying further, going to a good undergraduate college and finally securing a place to a premier B-school. Also, being a single child, it was up to me and my mother to take care of each other. So I learned things on my own – great big things that I couldn’t have understood any other way. One of the hardest things about losing a parent, apart from financial and emotional damage, is a feeling that nobody understands. What I learned is that we are given such a small time, and you never know when your time will run out. Spend your life doing things that make you happy because you may not have the chance later. Having no backup, this incident taught me not to play safe and take risks. My life has been fuller, more beautiful, and more fun because I take chances that come to me. And thus I consider this to be the most challenging situation I have faced.
Challenges come in many forms. But, regardless of the challenge, facing up to it is key. Facing up to challenges and living through them give us the experiences that make up our life.
HOW IS ABG BIG IN MY LIFE:
Aditya Birla Group - The group’s remarkable silent presence can be understood by the huge spectrum of users and how effortlessly it manages to touch upon the lives of billions of people on a day-to-day basis all over the world across multiple categories. Many consumers, including myself, might not be fully aware up to what extent ABG is associated with things around us and how efficiently it provides endless products and services directly or indirectly.
Personally, the most relevant example is me being a consumer of the clothing brands such as Peter England, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, etc since years, not realizing that these fall under the umbrella of ABG. ABG has been big in the Telecom sector with Vodafone Idea Limited. It has helped in connecting India to the world. With its quirky and witty advertisement campaigns, it has held a memorable spot in the minds of millions of Indians. Even in the face of tremendous disruption, it has maintained its promise of top-notch quality. The introduction of hypermarkets has made our life very convenient and now, we do our daily shopping at ‘More’. Again, a brand under Aditya Birla. In the face of demonetization, ABG brought to my life a revolutionary way of banking via BHIM ABPB UPI app. Although I didn’t use any online mode earlier, this app has changed my views completely.
One more thing that makes ABG so big in my life is that ABG does not pretend to care but it actually does. Having someone in my life who has worked for ABG, made me realize that employee welfare is given utmost importance, which is the essential thing in any industry. It has a dynamic work culture and employee satisfaction is their topmost priority. Various programs related to employee training and development makes the employee happy and a lot more satisfied. One major thing that makes ABG stand out from the rest is that innovation is given a lot of importance and there is an easy acceptance of ideas from any person working with the group irrespective of the position that the person holds.
ABG is one of the finest parent companies nurturing so many brands and still continuing to be loyal to all its customers. It has been building its network on honesty, trust, and loyalty since day 1 and that makes it so important in our lives.
