Aditya Birla Group is one of the largest multinational conglomerates in India. The story of hard work, success and service began from a family in Pilani, Rajasthan. The founder of Birla industry in the pre-independence era, Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla, not only gave India one of its most mammoth industrial advantage but also was a close comrade in the freedom struggle. Since then started a legacy of giving and sharing. The main element about Aditya Birla Group, that stands out for me is that it doesn’t limit its vision to business goals alone but also seeks to empower people and powering the world. They have committed themselves to nation building aside of business vision. Numerous strides in the healthcare, education and infrastructure sector has brought in much needed development in our country. Aditya Birla Group is one the reasons India stands tall in the world map, with global retail option, telecom and chemical industries and much more. ABG is big in my life because of its services to humanity. I belong from the state of Odisha, which although abundant in resources, faces challenges of poverty, hunger and impoverishment in major sections. I have seen and read about the work that they are doing, especially in my state, for the betterment of the masses and its commendable. Collaborating with local agencies, ABG has been instrumental in providing skill and personality training, English language training and many more learnings to the vast number of urban and poor slum children. A thrust in education and infrastructure is being provided through installation of midday meal kitchens, provisions for solar lamps, etc. Along with these initiatives, there is an overall vision of sustainability and growth in capabilities that ABG aims to provide people in India. And that is the beauty of this venture, business is not means to end but just a mere means of giving back to the society in as many possible ways they can. One cannot scale heights without hindrances, and Aditya Birla Group is no exception. But what makes it stand out is they take challenges coming their way only to better themselves.
TELL US HOW YOU OVERCAME CHALLENGES IN YOUR LIFE
Challenges are a part and parcel of life they say, yet I believe they exist for a reason. They test our innermost capabilities and help us bounce back stronger and more confident. This is what I have gathered from the challenges that life has thrown on me. When I look back, I wouldn’t want it any other way because devoid of these challenges, my life wouldn’t have been as fulfilling as it has turned out to be. One of the most endearing challenges that I faced in my life, was fairly a recent when, while I decided to pursue MBA. I was doing my undergraduation in psychology and decided to pursue MBA right after my graduation. Planning my preparation strategy was challenging, but the most challenging part was a particular part of that preparation, which was Quants. It was not that I was poor at it, I wouldn’t say so, but what was the major problem for me was that I feared it. For the same reason I had dropped Mathematics as a subject in my class 12th examinations although I was a science student, only because I had been given an option, and I had grabbed it with both hands. But now that I had decided to enter into the world of management, I had nowhere to run but to face my fears. This by far was the most challenging task for me. To be able to deal with Quants and not just that, but attempt to ace it was much beyond what I could comprehend. But I decided to face this challenge head on. With the support of my near and dear ones, I started out in the extra hard work that I had to, in order to catch up. During that nine months of preparation, I thought of giving up multiple times, but the end goal always brought me back to life and gave me hope. My parent’s constant encouragement, support and believe in me also helped me continue. I prepared with sincerity and hope. Finally, the D-day came. I just prayed to God that whatever hard work I have done, should bear fruits. The hustle was finally over, what was left was to just to wait it out. The result day was here, and my overall XAT percentile was 96.4. I had performed above my expectations in the Quant section and my happiness knew no bounds. I had accepted the challenge in positive spirits and worked hard to overcome it.
