Aditya Birla Group, a company which was found in 1857, is one company that each one of us is aware of. Such is the greatness of this group that it has reached almost every household in India and expanded its operation in 35 other countries.
The company boasts a wide variety of industries that it caters to such as cement, fashion, telecom and financial services. We all are aware of brands such as Van Huesen, Louis Phillippe, Idea, Ultra Tech and the impact these brands have in our lives.
However, the first impression I got for ABG was through Ultratech. Coming from a business family dealing in construction of residential houses, one name which is common in our house is UltraTech. My dad would be busy dialling the suppliers to source the cement and when I would ask him which cement company is this? He replied – UltraTech. He added on to that and said it is the best cement that is available in the market. And that is the day when I first searched about this company and read about ABG.
I got to know how this group has grown over time and tried to reach every household through different industries. I remember opening my wardrobe and looking for how many Van Huesen or Louis Phillippe shirts I have, or which telecom operator is there on my handset and I realized that it is amazing to see one group impacting the life of so many individuals through quality products and services.
Life is difficult. People have challenges. Family members get sick, people get older, you don't always get the job or the promotion that you want. You have conflicts in your life. And really, life is about your resilience and your ability to go through your life and all of the ups and downs with a positive attitude.
We all know how important our mothers are in our lives. When they undergo signs of depression at that moment of your life where you have stepped out of house to enter into the corporate world is a tough time for a family as a whole. I was out of college and got one of the best companies on campus when I realized my Mom was facing first sign of depression. With dad not in town, I was the only one left in the family to take care of her. With almost around the clock work which started at 9 AM to 9PM, I hardly had time to look at things that were happening at home.
This is the time when I realized, how important family values are. I told the situation to my manager, used to leave the office at 6pm. Spent time with my mother and completed my work late night. This was the time when I don’t remember sleeping for more than few hours a day.
With months of these efforts and father finally coming back to town in a months’ time, I found peace in my mother recovering and satisfactory performance in the office as well. This time taught me how to not loose hope and how important self-belief is. These two things can help a person get out of every situation.
