It was the first year of MBA, new excitements, experiences, learning, chaos, hectic schedules, parties and a lot of fun was waiting for us. The first three months of college were frenetic, roaming here and there for lectures, coping up with clubs and committee work, sitting through Guest Lectures, Freshers and preparation for summer internship process. It's truly said that times flies when you want to enjoy each and every moment, it was the start of September when the first company came to campus for the Summer Internship recruitment. The panic settled in then, being a fresher it was my first job interview.
I started preparing for interviews, brushed through my basics of finance, kept myself well versed with general HR questions, started practicing speaking fluently in front of the mirror. The fear that resided inside for the first few interviews vanished when I sat for a few of them. I started feeling confident about myself, though I was rejected by a few companies earlier yet I kept my calm and learned from each process.
I went to Kormangala for my interview for a startup called Finacchi Wealth Management Pvt. Ltd. the Company provided for the exact role which I was planning to intern in. The Company facilitated currency trading, procurement of new trading accounts and examining the risk-reward ratio. It was an elated moment when I received the offer letter from the same company.
The 10 months of MBA already passed and it was April. The first day at the office, butterflies in the stomach as to how the office work would be, will I be able to meet the expectations of my mentor. All of them disappeared when I reached office and met my mentors and colleagues, they all were very helpful and were ready to guide at any time of difficulty.
The internship period was a regress one. I learned about a lot of new things from how to trade in the currency market, how to analyze the market based on analytical, technical and sentimental bases, had hands-on experience in currency market trading, acquiring new clients and maintaining existing client relationship. The internship improved my interpersonal skills, communication skills, analytical skills and also finance skills. I also made good connections with my peers who were from different B schools.
The two-month internship journey would not have been an easy going ride without my company mentors Mr. Sathya Ramalingam and Mr. Mritunjay Kumar. Their guidance and support throughout the period were immense. Be it an organizational problem, work environment issues, traveling issues, issues in understanding concepts they were always ready to help. Firstly they trained us on the basic concepts of currency and commodity trading through the demo account and later guided us in procuring the real account and making trades based on market news and readings.
There were several problems which I faced during my internship but the benefits outweighed the problems. Traveling 15kms each day in a city of traffic took around 2 hours for one side. Most of the time was spent in traveling. Because of this, I experienced traveling through each mode of transport. The local language Kannada was also a prominent issue as some client base was from Bangalore and conversing with them in any other language apart from Kannada became a difficulty.
Despite these difficulties it was pleasurable and learning experience to Intern with Finacchi Wealth Management Pvt. Ltd.
