Part A: Aditya Birla Group has a legacy of around 162 years. It was founded in the year 1862, by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla. The group has grown since a pre-independence era to become the 3rd largest Indian private sector conglomerate. While managing the workforce of 120,000, it has lived up to expectations of millions of people by providing products and services across various sectors like agribusiness, cement, chemicals, finance, e-commerce, retail, telecommunications, textile, etc.
Living in the Mumbai suburbs, I often visited malls for shopping. During my engineering days, office days and now MBA days, I have been dependent on ABG’s in-house fashion brands like Van Heusen, Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, etc. for smart and sophisticated formal wears. Moreover, the acquired fashion brands of ABG like Forever 21 attracts me very effectively by its fashion statement. Pantaloons store and their in-house brands also have appealing styles and patterns for everyday and party occasions.
My family has been a loyal customer of Vodafone in telecom industry and now with Idea Cellular merging with Vodafone, the Vodafone-Idea is helping me communicate with my near and dear ones excellently.
The retails supermarket chain of Big Bazaar has made its reach so extensively that you can find its store in almost every alternate city in and around Mumbai. The variety offered along with reasonable prices has made monthly grocery shopping easier and affordable. The layout of the store is also very convenient to walk through, which makes finding necessary items a less effort-taking task.
Part B: I write using my right hand and when I was in class 10, I injured the ligament of the right wrist. This continued throughout the months of December and January. I was asked to give complete rest to my right hand. But, it was necessary for me to complete all the class-work, home-work and self-study to perform well in my prelims, which are held in the month of January. Moreover, I also had to appear for prelims in January. I was very demotivated and disheartened that I would score less in exams because of inability to perform optimally during these crucial months. My teachers and friends were kind and supportive enough to counsel me but I couldn’t just give up because of my temporary disability. That is when I decided, I will try my best to do all my work on time, on my own, by learning to write with left hand. In the beginning, it caused a lot of discomfort, but later, with practice, my speed and handwriting improved and I could finish my classwork while writing with left hand along with my classmates. Eventually, I scored decently in the prelims as well. This incident made me realize nothing should put one’s morale down, because it is rightly said by Salvador Sali that “Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings”.
