How Aditya Birla Group Touched My Life-

The Aditya Birla Group is one name which probably every child in India regardless of geography would have heard of. So impactful and immense has been its presence in the lives of our countrymen that it is difficult to not name it when asked about which brand rouses us out of our melancholy. Same is the case with me. The brand has stuck with me since childhood and still invokes the fondest of memories.  I remember how my mother used to pack our food in Freshwrapp foil papers for tiffin during our school days. I also remember how I used to flaunt with pride my new Allen Solly and Peter England t-shirts in front of my friends. Believe it or not, I am actually wearing a Peter England t-shirt as I write this article.

And when talking about the contributions of Aditya Birla Group how can I forget the day I had come back from my college for my summer vacations. We were in the process of constructing our new home and I can vividly recall how awe-struck I was upon witnessing the dozens and dozens of gunny bags of Ultratech cement piled up outside.

In the end, all I can say is that I am truly grateful for having such an ever-lasting association from such an early age with Aditya Birla Group. It means a lot to me.

My Small But Significant Impact In Society-

Although my contributions towards the welfare of society at large pale in comparison to what Aditya Birla Group has done, but I do believe that I have been able to bring some semblance of change in the lives of those whom I have touched. After graduation, I was in this dilemma about whether to go for research work or involve myself in something more practical. After a lot of thinking, I decided that without experiencing the ground reality of India, I cannot consider myself to be a true Indian. I joined Rural Organisation for Social Establishment (ROSE), an NGO to fulfill my dreams. I moved to northern Jharkhand region, specifically Latehar and Palamu districts, where I was to work with the tribal people and spread awareness amongst them.

The two years which I spent over there probably gave me such exposure which I got not have gotten anywhere else. I led a team of volunteers to rescue children from bonded labor. We were successful in emancipating around 100 children who have now been inducted into formal education and vocational training including medicine and health. The progress is continuously monitored by the district officials and the NGO.

I also oversaw a program for the introduction of the Mobile Medical Facility in the northern Jharkhand region. 5000 people benefited from the Mobile Medical Unit facility being run in Palamu and Latehar districts. It has proved to be a vital lifeline for the entire region.

In the year 2014, Mission Indradhanush was launched with a dream to achieve 90% full immunization coverage of India and sustain the same by the year 2020. In my own small way, I tried to help our Prime Minister achieve his dream of "Let no child suffer from any vaccine-preventable disease". I led an operation to bring around 3000 people of Latehar, Palamu and Garhwa districts under the cover of Mission Indradhanush. We were able to provide them with immunization against such deadly diseases as Tuberculosis, Pneumonia, Polio and Hepatitis B.

The steps which I had taken were small but the journey is only just beginning and I have a dream of taking India out of the clutches of poverty and into a future “where the mind is without fear and the head is held high”.
