CSR at Aditya Birla Group

Aditya Birla Group in the league of Fortune 500`is an Indian multinational conglomerate. It operates in 35 countries with an employee strength of about 120,000. The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. The revenue of the group is approximately US$44.3 billion in 2018. With over seven decades of responsible business practices, the business has grown into global powerhouses with a range of sectors – metals, textiles, telecom, cement etc. The CSR at Aditya Birla Group has impacted and brought a big smile on millions of people. Expanding their helping hands to over 5000 villages, reaching out to 7.5 million people, treating over a million patients, running 5000 medical camps and 20 hospitals, operating 56 schools with over 46,500 children and a lot more. For over 50 years now the group has engaged in impactful activities for the well being of millions. Some of the major initiatives and projects include Village Social Entrepreneurs in healthcare which covers around 300,000 people around 100 locations, engagement in a major project with Vision Foundation of India to provide eyesight to thousands of people. Idea Cellular, an Aditya Birla Group company has taken up an initiative in rural India where power supply deprives a child the right to education. Women are encouraged to set up Solar Urja Lamp assembly units through proper training. This initiative spans to over 30,000 villages across many states. The project has helped to provide 525,000 solar lamps to children illuminating their lives and restoring their right to education. To help build a better and sustainable life for the weaker section of the society is what the group aims at.
