As we grow up even our dressing habits change. Let alone the dressing habits, even the brand we wear changes over time. We start choosing brands based on the occasion we don it for. As a teenager I used to shop for my dresses at Peter England retail outlet. Even if I were in a mall, I would somehow end up choosing and buying dresses from Peter England. As I grew to my early twenties my wardrobe had brands like Allen Solly and Louis Phillipe. I loved donning Louis Phillipe for special occasions like a date and I must admit, it was an instant hit. My dad and I would always compete in choosing the best shirt or a T shirt from an outlet and after hours of slogging in the mall or shop, my dad settles for a shirt from Linen Club and I would mostly end up with Louis Phillipe. Each shirt of Allen Solly or Louis Phillipe I bought had an emotional connect attached. Each shirt of mine had a journey and I always believed that the outfit I wear bears the same destiny as mine.

Once in one of my discussions with my peer group where I was as usual boasting about the new expensive shirt of Louis Phillipe that I had bought recently and then the discussion drove into my favorite brands that I usually wear. One of my friends told me that all the brands that I mentioned were of the same group, Aditya Birla Group. It was a shocking revelation to me then. I felt as if my life came around a full circle. ABG played a very important role in my life.

I did my engineering in electronics and communications. I had a professor who mentored me to take up a real time issue and come up with a solution to it. When I suggested to take up a real time issue to solve as my major project, my team mates were initially sceptical. They thought we will not be able to complete the project in given time. But I didn’t give up. I made a presentation and pitched in the idea to my teammates and my mentor about the action plan. This then convinced them and we started off with the project.

Towards the end of my major project, when we failed to get results about a month before the submission, the situation was all chaotic, all hell broke loose. The team felt that they would score an F in the course and they have to re do the project and that also meant wasting a semester. A lot many things were at stake. The morale of the team was down.
I made sure we didn’t succumb to this. We brainstormed with our mentors and we came up with a different perspective to solve the problem.
I learnt that being calm and composed in a situation can greatly help us to solve the problems we are facing. I also learnt about proper resource allocation for obtaining optimal solution.
If I were to face a similar situation in the future, I would be ready with another action plan, plan B.  In case, something goes wrong in the current approach, team members will at least have an assurance that we have another plan.
