Part A

Aditya Birla Group has had a big impact in my life since my childhood pertaining to infinite memories and experiences through its various products and services, many of which were and are still an inherent part of my life though it was 2013 when I first realized about the significant presence it had in my life and also globally. This was after I joined Vedanta Ltd in 2013 as a Graduate engineer trainee that I came across the Aditya Birla Group so perpetually as Hindalco Industries Ltd being one of the direct competitors of Vedanta Ltd and I tried to know their business processes and explore their best practices to understand what was different in their working culture. This is when I realized that Hindalco is a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group and they have a plethora of brands and businesses and slowly so many dots of my life felt connected after I realized I had been using so many of their brands since my very childhood. From the Louis Phillipe shirt that I gifted my father to the Allen Solly shirts and trousers I have, to my sister’s collection of Forever 21. There was one brand that I already knew that was a part of ABG which was Ultra Tech cement which has a significant impact not only in India but also worldwide. Aditya Birla Group’s vision of a sustainable business practices across its global operations highlights their long term vision towards making the world a better place to live in.

Part B

The bold step of quitting my job three months prior to CAT to join a reputed B-School seemed meaningless after I met with an accident with two days in hand to join Goa Institute of Management. I got an extra week to heal through medical certifications but had hardly healed to be ready to join my classes. My parents were skeptical about my joining and were worried about my future. They had been my anchor and told me that there was no pressure for me to join but I decided to be strong in the entire process and had the belief that I would be able to join the college even if I don’t heal. I decided that I can’t give up on this opportunity and joined the college on a wheel chair. I attended all the classes and performed quite well not only academically but also pushed myself to go for Club interviews in the same condition because I believed I can and I will. The internal motivation to never give up and the external support has made the person I am today. This instance taught me that nothing comes easy in life but if we truly believe that we can and have spirit to never back down nothing can stop us from achieving what we want and truly deserve. This has made me a better and a humbler person and has helped me accept my scars and made me realize that they are my learning and not my failures.

I feel glad and fortunate enough to have survived that situation  to be in this position to share this experience and portray my fighting spirit.
