Everything under the Sun!

Apparels? Cement? Financial Services! Name it and find it with Aditya Birla Group.

It all began as a child when I would go to the Pantaloons showroom for a heavy shopping and be back home with an overwhelmed bag. The ID cards people wore there would shoot some questions in my mind, as it didn’t not match with the green logo of the Pantaloons store and instead there was something in orange found. Later, I learnt it was part of the Aditya Birla Conglomerate and started reading about Aditya Birla group.  Having an Advocate dad, who was also a finance enthusiast, often parallels would be drawn between the ABG financial services and the rest and the floor would be open for discussion at home. I started knowing more about ABG this way. When a family friend of ours got placed in ABG, I could relate to the kind of success it was viewed as and the joy that family had. These little things pave way for something big in your mind!

The Successor, Kumar Mangalam Birla took due charges of this entire group at the very young age of 28. The kind of managerial skills he possesses still gives an awe of respect. It was under his leadership that the Aditya Birla Group took a sneak peak into other services like software and BPO.

KM Birla when he initially took over, managed a turnover of 2 Billion and slowly made it to 33 Billion. This kind of steadiness and confidence in own’s skill is the most important factor about the ABG. This has inspired many young aspirants like me and will continue to inspire many out there.

Today, it’s the third largest private company in India with billions as revenue and offering employment to millions.  As an HR student, my connection with ABG grew no bounds. All of us have certain companies that we would like to target, and ABG is undoubtedly in the dream list of so many of us.

Once with ABG, the growth through their internal mobility speaks for itself. It is of course a question of pride to be associated with a such a revered company that hands on skill and cross skill would become an integral part of us.

What is big about the ABG in my life? Everything about the company, its growth, its expansion, the revenue it has managed to turnover and the position it holds as of date. Well, What is not big about the ABG?!!

It would be wonderful to get promoted from being just a customer to an employee of this magnificent group!  ABG is in the dream cloud and my journey towards it has been kickstarted, hopefully!

Shoot for the moon and you will land among the stars

Medical Science was a career that I aspired for. Throughout schooling, my extra reading, quiz participations, etc were restricted to Physical Sciences.  As I moved to Standard X, I took a cold, calculated and hard decision of leaving the school where I studied from from KG, to another. This move was solely for the purpose of securing the required marks in the pre-NEET scenario. Surprisingly, the result was altogether different. In the race, I was just the proverbial hair's breadth away from the finishing point, however, the fact was I lost. Of course, I was not prepared to take a medical seat via the self-financing route or take up the run-of-the-mill engineering course. Grief stricken, I pondered what next?

Putting behind the past, I decided to do justice to whatsoever I was to take up. After a lot of back and forth; I landed up with a course in Physics. Post that, mu stint with Cognizant helped me realise to pursue a career in HR. My undeterred spirits and focussed efforts stood me in good stead as is vouched by my numerous testimonials.

I learnt that one should expect the unexpected.  Failure in one effort is not the end of the world and you need to pick up the pieces and move on. Also, I realized that the world is full of opportunities if only we view them as that!

Today, I am a bright chirpy MBA student with a lot of hopes and positivity. The path that has brought me to this, has moulded me mentally and emotionally! And, down there I do feel missing an MBBS seat was a blessing disguise. Life is all about facing the challenges with an optimistic view, putting behind your past and ultimately doing justice to whatever you embark upon.

These three attributes will indeed walk you a long way and add more laurels to your bag as you walk on!
