I had joined an IT company post my engineering in Kolkata, West Bengal. 4 months of rigorous training and I was a high performer. I had learnt each and everything with dedication, after all this was what I was going to work upon for the next few years. I got posted in my favoured location post my training and started searching for a project. But alas! I was mapped to a completely different domain of which I had no knowledge. My skillsets did not match which those required and as a result I did not get calls from the Project Managers. 5 months passed and I kept on trying to get into a project, but it was just not easy.
One fine morning, I got a call from a manager. She told me that was in need of resources and would take me in on one condition. I had to pass an internal certification within a week, and I told her that I would get back to her as soon as I passed. I still remember the look on her face as I walked into her cabin the next evening and told that I was ready to work. I studied for the whole day and worked overnight so that I could appear for the test the very next day. I wanted that job and just could not delay further and take chances.
This created a very positive impact and I was acknowledged throughout the team. At last I did start working in a project and taking up this challenge paid me back.
