1857 saw the emergence of the House of Birla by the pioneer, Seth Shiv Narayan Birla. He began his dream by laying the foundation through trading in cotton. Perseverance, determination, hard work and courage to do something extraordinary made the House of Birla scale to heights and in no time, they were running in the league for Fortune 500.
Venturing into the different sectors of the economy, the legendary leader of the company, Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla plotted the company on the world map which revolutionized the way our citizens looked at Indian companies. In today's date, ABG has spread its wings to 34 plus countries and boasts a workforce of over 120,000 employees coming from 42 diverse nationalities.
But the bigger question is, why do we feel so connected to ABG, despite of several multinational brands existing in our environment?
Every second brand that we come across in our day to day lives belongs to ABG. Be it Freshwrapp, Ultratech Cement, Ralph Lauren, Van Heusen, Ted Baker London and the list goes on. Apart from the mark they have established in the business world, they have significantly contributed to the society in innumerable ways. Offering merit scholarships to 24,000 children, building 20 hospitals in the rural areas, providing mid-day meals to 74,000 children through Akshaya Patra, operating more than 56 schools, working across 5,000 villages globally and it's current programs and projects in healthcare and education across the globe are the key reasons which adds value to Aditya Birla Group.
Today, life seems patchy without the presence of ABG in the market. They faced multiple challenges during the inception but with focus and will power, they were successful in accomplishing the hardest of the tasks. Personally, coming from a dance background, I faced several challenges in mastering the art form. One of the major challenges I faced was conditioning my body to get the right form. Undergoing training in Odissi did not seem like a cakewalk. The penalty for the most minuscule errors also took a toll on my health and it seemed about right to take a break. I am proud today that I did not go ahead with that thought and did not give up on my training. Passion and determination are key factors leading to overcoming the obstacles I faced. After facing the harsh circumstances, my form got better and in no time, I had achieved my goal of pursuing my dream. Dance has taught me quite a few lessons in life and it has helped me in becoming what I am today.
