Indian Institute of Management (IIM) has been set up by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2010 at Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. IIM Raipur stands for value based quality education and high quality research.
IIM Raipur started its Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) from academic year 2012-2013. It’s been the fifth year and the institute is continuously attracting pool of talented researchers essential to academia and industry. FPM is a full-time doctoral programme which offers ‘aspiring management teachers’ and scholars a unique opportunity to add value to society, by solving complex issues in the field of management.
For selecting candidates during personal interview IIM Raipur looks for consistently good academic record, strong research interest, corporate credentials and also analytical skills. The Fellows are given on-campus accommodations as well as scholarship of 30,000 INR during first and second year while 35,000 INR from third year onwards. Additionally, there is also a provision for contingency grant of 40,000 INR available for journal subscription, membership fee to national and international societies and travel related to thesis work. Apart from financial assistance, IIM Raipur gives scholars access to top-notch journals and databases, full time residence in campus and complete tution fee waiver.
Fellow Programme in Management has been categorized into three phases. First phase is coursework which develops basic skills for analyzing managerial problems. It also exposes scholars to various disciplines such as economics, quantitative methods and behavioral sciences. It provides an opportunity to develop broad understanding of area of specialization as well. While in second phase scholars acquire in-depth knowledge of their specific area and develop research skills. Third phase includes doctoral dissertation wherein scholars seek assistance and work closely with faculty members and can undertake original research in their area of interest.

In addition to regular FPM program, IIM Raipur also offers Executive Fellow Program in Management (EFPM), which is a unique doctoral programme specifically designed for working professionals with more than 7 years of work experience in industry.
With the rapid expansion of management education in India, it has become inevitable that top business schools cater to the need of the faculty by producing excellent researchers and academicians who have a strong practical experience of the corporate world. Management education will only be powerful and effective if the people with their real life experiences are brought to the academic forefront. Executive EFPM at IIM Raipur is an attempt in that direction. The Programme is intended to bring industry and academia close to each other. By providing scholarly inputs to those who already have domain knowledge of their discipline, the programme will offer prospects of a full time/part time career within academia or in research positions outside the academia world.
The EFPM programme has two components. The first component of the programme consists of an on-campus course work involving a series of courses followed by a comprehensive examination. The second component of the programme consists of thesis work. On Campus course work is divided into three modules of eight weeks(Module 1) and four weeks (Module 2 and 3 each).
