From a small town kid to a crow at IIM Ranchi- ABG has seen it all!!!

I was 7 years old. I had a fight with my father. I waited for him to sleep and as soon as he fell asleep, I burnt his formals with a steam iron. And that was it. I was scolded like anything. And, there was my first interaction with ABG. It was his favorite shirt. It was his  PETER ENGLAND shirt. I didn't know the importance of anything favorite back then. Now I do. In fact, my lucky business suit is of Raymond. But I was quite late to know that all these are owned by the same firm, ABG. Starting from the foil paper used by my mother to wrap my food for school to the idea network my father was using, everything has a memory attached to it. And then came one of the most important ones. My father joined Ultratech Cement Works. He was posted in Jharsuguda. I was 14 then. I could see the pride on his face, working for one of the top conglomerates in the country.

I attended some of the family functions organized by the company for their employees. I was amazed by the sheer passion and dynamism everyone there displayed. They were a family. They celebrated together, mourned together and enjoyed together. It is during those events, that I could connect all the dots. ABG was not only into fashion-retail or construction or FMCG, but ABG was also present in Insurance, Telecom ( I didn't know that Idea was a part of the ABG group until then ), and even Baking sector.

The company has such strong values that my parents started inculcating them into our own life. They taught us the importance of integrity, commitment to work, passion, seamlessness and speed in completing my tasks. All of these values made me stronger. One who has not failed does not know the importance of winning. I have always been the average kid, always busy in doing the things that are not important. Not very good in academics, below average in sports, and not very passionate about music or dance. In a nutshell, my parents never got an opportunity to be proud of me. But that never deterred them from believing in me. Perhaps this flows from the values that have been inculcated in them in their personal and professional life. When I joined my undergrad college, I realized the importance of developing myself. I took part in almost all the extracurricular activities. I joined various clubs and helped them organize activities. I worked hard and became the General Convener of the college. As a part of the Student Forum, I was exposed to the outside world in a manner I had never imagined. I learned the importance of teamwork, hard work, and time management. I honed my leadership skills as well. After college, I decided to develop these even further. I decided to take up admission in a top B school. And now here I am, a CROW for life.
