I have always considered challenges as a learning experience designed to make one wiser in life. My mantra whenever I am faced with any adversity is to remain stoic and analyzing all the possible courses of action which are possible by weighing their pros and cons and then going ahead with the most appropriate which fits the situation the best. Everyone’s life is loaded with challenges. Some are trivial while some are significant enough to bring about transformation in the person.
My ambition in life has always been to be good in all the endeavors that I undertake and thus, rise to the top of my trade. The work done should be completed in impeccable fashion with little to no scope of error. Upon retrospection, one such situation comes to my mind which posed a challenge and I tackled it head on. The incident dates back to a couple of years. The setting is my previous organization which is a reputed IT firm where I worked as an analyst. We were a team of 3 working upon migrating a software to its latest version. The work had been segmented and each of us was doing the part we were adept at.
However, one of my teammates implemented the wrong logic and had to go on leave due to a family problem. With only 2 days left for the deadline and a severe reprimand from my supervisor, I decided to take up the challenge. Initially I was clueless about how to proceed because of the paucity of time and the concern that the work was out of my comfort zone. However, with the deadline just a couple of days away, I decided to tackle the difficulty head on. I worked hard, sometimes till 2 in the morning with nothing but caffeine to keep me company and came up trumps in the end.
This incident posed a big challenge which threatened to crush my ambition of reaching to the top by dint of the quality of my work. It taught me the valuable lesson of remaining phlegmatic. Come what may, never let adversities boggle you down. The second most important learning was to get out of your comfort zone and be adaptable to everything because in the end being a manager is all about unlearning and then learning new things.
Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life
“Do I belong to the family of the Birlas?” I have seen this comment being used since the time I gained consciousness as a way to add a tinge of sarcasm whenever someone in India wanted to imply that they are not very affluent or influential. The usage is completely apropos. The Aditya Birla Group has been doing it all and is considered to be one of the most reputed and influential groups not just in the country but across the globe. Since its inception over 162 years ago, the group has come a long way etching its brands in the memories of people. With the sheer variety of goods and services provided by the Aditya Birla Group, its offerings are all pervasive in almost every individuals’ life, especially in India.
Ever since my childhood, the various offerings of Aditya Birla group have been a part of my life. Be it the first mobile phone network that I subscribed to way back in 2008 or the additions to my wardrobe from pantaloons generously presented by my parents during my trips back home in the semester breaks, the offerings have been there throughout.
My origins from a Tier 2 city did not in any way encumber my associations with the multitude of offerings. That is how much these products of Aditya Birla Group had penetrated in regions across the nation. The effective use of media, including their creative and inspirational advertisements have further helped fillip their connect with the populace of India. Who can forget the memorable catchphrase, “What an idea sirji” from the Idea advertisements.
Most important of all are the memories that are created when the products form such an integral part of one’s life. Even today, my go to place for my business wear needs is a Peter England or a Van Heusen showroom simply because it has been happening since my childhood and the brands have never disappointed in terms of quality or reliability. These are what form memories which have ultimately culminated into my using the products almost as ritual. The Aditya Birla Group through its products and services has indeed formed an integral part of my life which surely cannot be substituted easily.
