From our conversations to our apparel and even the buildings we live in, Aditya Birla Group has infiltrated our lives to an incomparable extent. It has traced with me my entire journey from Shamli to Delhi- for graduation, to my work days after that. The Idea network helped me keep in touch with my loved ones and kept me attached to my roots, besides being the medium of constant support and comfort. The CSR activities undertaken by this group have enhanced the lives of countless people and inspired a great number of people, including me, to contribute to the society that makes us what we are. It is funny how if you don’t sit down to notice it, you won’t even realise the kind of presence and impact that ABG has in our lives- it is ubiquitous!

My first suit was bought from Van Heusen. While I write this, I am wearing a shirt from Louis Phillippe. Pantaloons, another bringing of ABG, has been there for my requirements at this new stage of life at a B school. I look around and makes me feel that our lives have been made so much easier thanks to this larger than life corporation. India as a country is growing at a rapid pace. One of the key components of this growth is infrastructure development. Ultratech Cement is India’s largest and world’s top cement manufacturer. Whether we know it or not, Aditya Birla Group has touched millions of lives in our country at some point in time. The clothes we wear, the roads we walk on, the calls we make have Aditya Birla Group written all over them.

When I first joined Kirorimal College, I was a kid from a small town with an ambition to make a mark. Everyone considered me smart and I was fairly confident that I will amount to something one day. Soon, I began to take academics lightly and started focusing more on extracurricular. I was also simultaneously contesting for student body elections. The first year of my graduation was finished and I was left behind. My scores halved from the scores in 12th. I became even more disinterested in academics the next year. During the end of my 4th semester, I was featured in the bottom 5% of my batch. I always wanted to do an MBA from a reputed Business school in the country but my dream was shattered when I found out that I am not even eligible to write CAT.

I decided to turn things around in my final year. While my batch mates were taking 8 subjects in that year, I decided to retake subjects from all the previous semesters. I wrote 25 exams that year. My work paid off and I managed to score well. I was finally eligible for CAT. I never acted complacent after that. After slogging in a 10-hour job and studying for CAT, I finally got an admit to MDI Gurgaon. I have never looked back since. If I asked my 5 years younger version, he would probably say something else. This journey was not at which I planned to walk on, but I have realized this is where I needed to be.
