“Hard Work never Fails”
The year was 2013 and I was in the 3rd year of my Graduation and one thing that I had my eyes set on since the first day in college came to realization. Amidst the minimal studies, pathetic infrastructure and boring lectures that the college had to offer, there was something that I was passionate about and wanted to pursue as my career.
The game of Football always attracted me, the adrenaline pumping, sweat pouring and the war like feeling during every game had grabbed me since Class 10th. First year in college I wasn’t selected into the college team because of certain internal politics. I was left in the stands supporting a team that I knew had one man short, who could have made a difference. I wasn’t the best in college, but I had certain qualities that the team lacked. I was disappointed and saddened by the failure and didn’t attend any of our college games after the first. The second year was a year of hard work not in academics but in football. I dragged myself to the ground each and everyday for practice irrespective of the occasion. A year of hard work resulted in me being selected in the college team in the second year. We lost in the quarters of the Inter College Tournament.
Now, when in third year, team selections happened, and I was selected as the captain of the team. This is something that I always wanted to and had sweated the entire year to achieve. Hard may not pay off in the short run but does in the long run.
By the way, we lost in the Semi Finals in that year as well, but we lost to the eventual National Finalists. So, it was Okay!!!
