The Group has a vast experience in promoting and growing consumer facing businesses and brands in the apparel as well as non-apparel sectors and in the process has gained significant consumer insights.
It is the largest producer of primary Aluminum across India and Asia. It is also the leading producer of Copper too. It serves as the nucleus of the Aditya Birla Group. Created in 1958, Hindalco opened an aluminum plant in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India in 1962.The establishment of the plant coincided with that of construction of Rihand Dam in Renukoot. The combination brought several other industries to the area and as a result it became a hub for industries in the coming years.
Today the area houses 20+ power plants generating more than 20000MW of electricity, chemical plants, cement plants, coal mines etc.
Being the pioneer, ABC group changed the landscape of the area along with lives of the people. The area which was once the most backward districts of India has seen rapid growth both economically and socially. With nonstop efforts of the management, Hindalco was able to establish a railway station, build roads, hospitals, schools, market and most importantly, a culture.
Seeing Hindalco grow all through my childhood, it was a source of development for thousands of people living around it. With its CSR activities, Hindalco till today is determined to uplift the people around them and impress a long-lasting effect.
Overcome Challenges to Achieve my Goals
Entering B-School, I was determined to take up finance as majors. The dreams were shattered in the first semester itself when I had to study accounting. The subject was totally alien to me and was unable to grasp anything. Slowly I tried to understand the concepts and kept practicing the numerical. When the mid-terms arrived, I was confident of scoring average marks. When the results came out, I was among the lowest in the batch. I was shattered but did not lose the hope
In Fact, I believe failure is cardinal part of goal achievement. But through failure, I came to realize that there many ways to overcome failure and achieve goals. However, what it requires is just mental shift in thinking. It requires a certain way of looking at things in your life and steering your thoughts in the right direction while sowing the seeds of success to reap the rewards later.
To overcome the failure, I realized that I need to put more efforts into the subject. I tried reading different books and solved lot of numerical. My friends kept me motivated and helped me along the way. By being resilient and determined, I was now lot more confident and had a better understanding of the subject. This reflected in my final results and I was able to pass with very good grades.
