PART A
Year 1857, India’s first war of independence was fought. The seed of freedom was sown. Like thousand others, Seth Shiv Narayan Birla must be dreaming about the Independent India too. This was the same year when the foundation of Aditya Birla Group was laid down by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla. This 162 year old business conglomeration today employs 120,000 people around the globe.
Aditya Birla Group has played an indispensable role in the Indian economic scenario since independence. It would not be wrong to say that almost every Indian’s life is in one way or the other associated with The Aditya Birla Group. From clothes we wear to cement that we use to build our houses, almost everything that we use in India is in some way associated with this group.
Aditya Birla Group has been a part of my life too. It has not only played a crucial role in the Indian economic scenario but in my life too. So, this particular story goes back in 2014 when I was a student of a residential school in Patiala. So, as a part of our weekly outing every Sunday we were allotted around 40 minutes of outing during which we were allowed to go outside the school campus and buy stuff of our daily needs.
It was almost a task to find everything I need in those 40 minutes. It was impossible for me to find and buy all the stuff that I needed. For almost an year I was not able to strike off even half of my not so long shopping list. The main reason for this was, I had to travel in three different directions to buy it.
Soon, our savior came into the picture. Some good soul had taken up a franchise of the supermarket “MORE”. “MORE” is a chain of supermarkets that is owned by the Aditya Birla Group. This store enabled not only me but also my several fellow schoolmates to buy everything they need at one place. Not only it helped us to cut down on the time that was wasted during travelling but it also made the entire shopping hassle free.
This story just describes one small way in which it affected my life. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it is part of every Indian’s life in one way or the other. The Aditya Birla Group has played a vital role at micro as well as macro level. They have been major part of the viscose staple fiber industry, metal industry, cement industry, viscose filament yarn industry, fashion industry, carbon black industry, chemicals industry, fertilizers industry, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. True to their heritage they have been a part of the Indian economic growth throughout.
PART B
“But if you want to win,
You’re going to have to fight”
Hardships, obstacles and adverse conditions are an integral part of our lives. In my experience of twenty-one years I have never met a man or woman who would say that they never had to face any challenge or hardship in their life. Almost we all were once in a situation, which was suffocating and exhausting but still we all managed our ways out. Situations may get tough at times but the thing that actually matters more than anything is the way in which we handle these situations.
I am someone who would do anything and everything to achieve things that I’m passionate about. Today, I would like to share my secrets. Strategies that have helped me to achieve the things I have today, things that actually matter to me, things that which have made me what I am today. Shh!!!!! Ladies and gentlemen I would request you to concentrate and maintain silence as I’m going unveil my secrets. I always tell myself that I have to be resilient because no matter how hard the nut is one always finds a way to crack it. I keep reminding myself that even though the path is thorny, the destination is going to be beautiful. Nothing comes for free we have to fight for it. So, I just have to maintain my positivity and keep working towards my goals. ‘Nothing is Impossible’ I know this one is a cliche but nevertheless it’s true. To further substantiate my point I would like to quote my all time favorite fictional character Albus Dumbledore. In The Prisoner of Azkaban, he points out that ‘'Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light'’. This beauty by JK Rowling has greatly helped me to cope with the tough situations. Whenever the situation gets adverse I know just have to find the switch and soon everything will work my way. I tell myself that I need and I have to achieve my goal because that is what defines me as a person.
Meghan Markle once mentioned in her speech that we have no idea about the magnitude of our actions. This part of her speech has created a major impact on me. I have to achieve my goals because that is the only way by which I can actually create a difference. I know the choices that I make today are sooner or later going to affect the people around me. So, I know that I have to keep going not just for me but for everyone. I feel that we all have to remind ourselves constantly about the magnitude of our actions. This feeling of responsibility and commitment towards the society and my goals is what has played a major role in helping me deal with the hardships and obstacles that came in my path to success. I know I can so I should. So, to summarize my argument I would say that
I look out for positivity in every sphere to boost up morale and energy.
