My maternal uncles reside in a place called Ganjam which is about 140 kms from Bhubaneswar (the state capital). Most of the people in this town depends on fishing activities. Other than that it also had a chemical factory by the name Jay Shree Chemicals. My uncle was also an employee in the factory. People from nearby places were also working in that factory. Though the number was less the quality or added perks were not that good. Two years back the Jay Shree Chemicals Factory was acquired by Grasim Industries which is a part of Aditya Birla Group. After they acquired the factory they started coming up with may reforms and transformations. The plant capacity was doubled. As a result the Grasim Industries started getting more revenue. But their philosophy of giving back to the society was evidently seen during that time. They started making proper road, education facilities, medical facilities and developed a sense of belongingness for the company. Employee got many extra perks. The whole credit goes to Aditya Birla Group to come up a wholesome development of a town and it's resident. They have better housing to live in, their children are getting formal education, more employment opportunities, health care facilities. They are engaging a lot in CSR activities. The activities might be small but it creates a big change in the lives of people who had never thought of availing all these amenities. Conflicts between the residents and the company has reduced to zero. This has brought property and happiness for all the stakeholders. Time to time they are conducting many cultural programs which makes the community of fishermen to be a part of the mainstream public. I hope Aditya Birla Group would expand more through such opportunities where in they act in a manner in which they can give back a lot to the society.#TAPMI #ABGLPWooMe
