The Aditya Birla Group founded in 1857 by late Seth Shiv Narayan Birla, is an Indian Multinational Conglomerate headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, with operations in almost 35 countries, employeeing and thereby securing around 1,20,000 employees worldwide. Over the years the group has emerged as one of the market leaders in significant number of business ventures viz. viscose staple fibre, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbonblack, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. Talking about how Aditya Birla Group has an influence in my life or has influenced my life let me share some insights in the said regards.
I come from that part of India which is famous for its beaches, temples, greenery and scenic beauty all over…indeed it is the land of Goa.Birla Group showed its presence for the very first time in Goa in the form of Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd. a fertilizer company providing the best quality farming fertilizers anticipating the rising needs of local as well as farmers spread across the entire country to boost their farming yield(s) and also on the other hand the said company effectively brought in significant amount of job creation. This further helped Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd. Boost its brand loyalty and brand image among locals and emerge as top notch company in the eyes of all. Secondly I would like to highlight the presence of the most sought after educational institution which the ABG has set up in Goa, the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, which has its campuses at two other places in the country apart from Goa.It has opened the doors of research, engineering, applied sciences and other competent fields for state(local) as well as national young aspiring students. It has made every aspiring student of Goa to dream big, work hard, compete and be a part of professional education which is definitely a class apart experience altogether. On an individual level, it takes me an immense pride in saying that the house in which me and my family stay is built out of Ultra-Tech cement. In a monsoon clad region like Goa, accountability and durability of the construction work is mainly dependent upon the quality of cement and the mortar used in construction which if ignored can at times lead to bad outcomes. Ultra-Tech being the number one product in terms of quality, price and accountability is therefore the undisputed choice of all. Construction of roads under Sagarmala project made use of Ultra Tech cement in significant proportion which can not only be seen as a sign of development but as a sign of new India. The apparels which I wear viz. Peter England, Louis Phillippe has created a sigh of inclusion inside me that even I can connect my nerves towards this huge brand .
Right from a mobile simcard to apparels and shopping stores, heavy industries to education to hospitals also not to forget the beautifully built Birla-Mandirs (Krishna Mandirs), there is not a single field which is left behind by ABG which we can pinpoint, they are almost everywhere. The group had a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in year 2018. It is the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate behind Tata Group with revenue of just over US$100 billion and RIL with revenue of US$74 billion.Undoubtedly Aditya Birla Group is not just a business ecosystem or an empire but it’s the “idea jo such mein badal dein apki duniya”…..
