Why ABG is is big in your life?
How have you made an impact?
I’ll try to answer both these questions through my story and how #BigInMyLife is their touch.
Like rightly said, Aditya Birla products are there in every aspect of an Indian lifestyle, and there will be hardly anyone who has not used their products. So, I won’t take your precious time for the same story in a different package and will try to convey my story in short; I said I’ll try.
This is the story of How I met ABG!
Before being an IIM student, I was a simple Electrical Engineer working in Siemens (one of the world largest conglomerate in the Energy sector). I joined the organization as a graduate trainee in July 2015 and was assigned a role in the engineering department of Substation business. I must say life was not easy in the initial days, so much to grasp and deliver at the same time. However, with time, I started to like the work because of its impact on our power deficit society. In my work domain, there was a responsibility for the inspection of products that we were using. Substations need conductors, and we were using Aluminium channel as the primary conductor. Now you can guess how this story is linked with ABG…………..yes, the manufacturer for our aluminum channel was HINDALCO.
In December 2015, only six months old in the organization still learning new things each day, I’ve to go for an inspection to HINDALCO Renukot. First of all, I must say what a place is Renukot, sitting in the laps of mountains. I was in love with the area from the moment the breeze touched me. I stayed there at the guest house in the Guesthouse. In the next morning, I’ve to go for the inspection as scheduled.
While going through the tests, we found some specifications are not meeting, and I called my project manager to ask what should I do, as the material was required urgently at the site, he told me to approve the content. I would have done the same, as I was quite new the organization and those tests were not that much critical. However, the people in Hindalco asked me to give them a day, and they modified the test standards and got it approved in a day from PGCIL, for which Siemens was working.
In this way the made the same lot approval ethical, this shows the nature of the organization that not to go for the wrong path even it is of the negligible amount.
This learning will stay with me throughout my life, and that is how I met ABG.
