Primary School

Amazing in academics, great at sports, fearless about taking up leadership positions like the class monitor and house vice-captain, etc... a true “Sharmaji ka ladka” in all aspects. That was my primary education for you.

Secondary School

Things were similar to primary school until a couple of years until this really embarrassing incident took place.

It was a pleasant Monday morning, things were as usual. I reached my school about 5 minutes before the morning assembly starts. On my way to the classroom, I bumped into my friend who conveyed the message that my class teacher was looking for me, that is when it struck me that it was our class’s turn to conduct the morning assembly and I had taken the responsibility of reading city and sports news. To cut the story short, I had to cover up the mess for which I decided to collect a couple of headlines from the newspaper and present that during the assembly but thanks to the creativity of news editors, the headlines that I copied were so funny that I ended up making a fool out of myself in front of those 1500 kids. I became a laughing stock in front of the school for a few weeks to come.

This seemingly insignificant incident totally dented my personality. It made me transform from being a confident young kid to becoming an under-confident young man with extreme stage fright. From being the “sharmaji ka ladka” to becoming the above average kid with a shattered self-confidence, I had a very transformative phase.

Engineering

These four years have been the formative years of my personality, I found the lost me during these special four years.

There is no single incident to pinpoint that helped me fight my fear, but the spark that started the fight to realize my potential would be the compulsory assignment in Business Communications class where we were asked to give a 5-minute presentation on Topic of our choice. When all my classmates spoke about the coolest of the coolest technology around, I decided that I would narrate a story. This presentation ended up being the best I had ever given in a really long time and everyone loved it. The Professor went on to share the presentation with other sections and this small thing really helped me boost my confidence.

Newly found mentors in Professors helped me push myself even harder, I volunteered for everything that came my way, did really well in academics and slowly started to find the lost me. The four years were an amazing learning experience which helped me become the proud “Sharmaji ka ladka” again.
