It is incredible how social environment play such great role in person’s holistic development. It is like the butterfly effect on an individual. Each decision is like a ripple that spreads out uniformly, increases many folds, and everything changes a person’s future. While one can never be sure, I am confident that the person around me – My family, my teachers and my friends- have all influenced my life.
Of all the factors mentioned above my parents has undoubtedly been the most prominent source of encouragement. My parents taught me to be independent and self-motivated by providing me opportunity to learn by trial and error. I still remember when I was 12-year-old and all the boys in my colony were learning how to ride the bike and I showed interest in doing the same and took my father’s bike without asking him.
In my first try I was not able to handle the weight of the bike and rammed it in nearby garage and broke the headlight of the bike. Scared that I will get scolding of the life I went to my father and told him everything sobbingly, and I apologised and told him I will never touch his bike again. What my father said next gave me a very important lesson, He asked me- why I tried in the first place if my intention was to give up just after first attempt, he told me failure is bound to happen in life, it’s you –how you pick yourself up and try again and again until you succeed. This has been my mantra in life since, I never give up.
Carrying the mantra, I did well in my School, be it academia, sports or cultural meet. I enthusiastically took part in everything, and because of my involvement I was given responsibilities from a very young age, I took it as an opportunity and succeeded in handling them.
During my graduation I realised my passion for entrepreneurship and started a small business along with my room- mate, which due to some reason we were not able to take it to the next level. This set back only encouraged me and made me determined for exploring opportunities which would help me revel myself and, in the process, help me understand myself better. Thus, despite getting a campus offer, and passing Engineering First Class I decided to pursue my passion.
I joined a Sales company where I was given proper exposure to the working of the Company, owing to my quest for learning and solution providing I started taking responsibilities from other domain of our business. While talking to our prospective client I realised I can handle clients well. I immediately chalked out the process plan and took over operations. The freedom offered by the organisation made me realise that taking initiative and being a solution provider is the key for success in career and in life, but it comes with a rider of being able to take responsibilities and handle crisis management.
Having learned the mantra of never giving up, I never gave up on my dreams, with the help of all the learning’s, I started my own Venture. This was a new experience for me; I was handling a team for the first time. I was overwhelmed at times but kept myself together and worked towards my vision. I was successful in implementing my ideas and was taking steps towards achieving what I had dreamt from last four years. I believed I possess skills required for being a successful business woman; the passion, determination, creativity, and communication skills which would be my sword and shield in business world. If only things could go the way we plan, after successfully running for a year, I started facing problems in my business, Clients were not happy by the quality of leads provided by us, some financial issues started cropping up, Finances outgoing was continuous but incoming reduced, which made it difficult for the operations to be run. It was Frustrating, I felt like my world was falling apart, I was questioning everything-it then happened I saw 12 years old me crying in front of my father on the verge of giving up and I remembered the words-Try again and again until you succeed.
So, here I am trying to make myself better. I am thankful for the lessons I have learnt. I am going to keep on learning and implementing until I succeed.
