Everyone goes through some challenging phases in his life and I have had my fair share of them. I have always been inclined towards academics and being on top of my class. That ambition came with some difficult choices to make, for example, between studies and my passion for music. My health has also not supported me every step of the way.
A few life changing phases have impacted me as a person and in the way I conduct myself or prioritise my decisions. When I was in 6th standard, I suffered from jaundice and was bedridden for a month. That was also a time when my family was going through a crisis and we had a tough time emotionally and financially. I would go to school and try to concentrate on studies, not knowing how the crisis would affect me in future. Somehow, we moved on and focused on our individual goals. A few years later, I was diagnosed with a stone in my submandibular duct and had to be operated immediately. The news shook me as I was in a very crucial stage of my career with 12th boards ahead of me a couple of months down the line. I was operated but also managed to score well in my exams. However, 2 years later, I found out that the stone had not been removed during my previous operation, therefore, I had to go through another surgery. I was in the second year of college and went through the same process, this time with a consequence on my health. I started getting symptoms of migraine and would suffer from days of agony which would make it difficult for me to study. But I stayed strong and tried to manage everything on my plate, finally landing a placement at EY. I worked there for 2 years and made a decision to go for further studies at a management institute.
Last year has been a physical and mental roller coaster for me, with another set of health problems along with multiple rejections from some of the top MBA institutes. But, when I finally got a call from NMIMS, it felt like all the hard work and struggle finally paid off. These challenges have shaped me as a person and also made me realise that we are stronger than we give ourselves credit for.
