Aditya Birla Group and my life
Since my childhood I have been consuming ABG’s products knowingly or unknowingly. My house where I was born and brought up was built strong to last long because my grandfather chose UltraTech Cement during construction of his dream home and my current residence in New Delhi which was built by a developer whose marketing office also had hoardings of UltraTech Cement to assure customers about safety and strength of building.
Later on, when I grew a little older and used to visit my village during vacations, I noticed that my grandfather was using fertiliser, insecticide and fungicide which had the branding of Birla Shaktiman. In fact, this is the brand which launched first ever Neem-coated urea in India in 2003 keeping in mind sustainability of nature and harmful effects of urea on food crops.
After getting admission into my under graduate program, it was the time to say bye to the school uniform and cover myself with the latest fashion which again landed me at the doorstep of ABG’s multi brand men apparel store Planet Fashion. The group now owns more than 150 stores in more than 100 cities all over India and has successfully become one of the well-known retail chains. The store offers apparel with branding of Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England which are big brands in themselves and have their individual fashion stores at some of the very premium shopping malls of India.
The demands of life increased to connectivity and the best solution which I found was Idea Cellular providing great network coverage and value for money. The company merged with Vodafone India on 31 August, 2018 and became India’s largest telecom provider in terms of revenue and subscribers.
When I got my first job as a software engineer at Envestnet Yodlee, again destiny made me work for ABG. This time my company appointed me a role in which I was the person working for Aditya Birla Money MyUniverse which is an online financial data aggregator helping people manage their money in a much efficient way.
Now, finally when I have started my journey in MBA and invested my savings from my last job, I interacted with ABC (Aditya Birla Capital) which is serving more than 10 million customers in India. ABC is an umbrella covering all the financial services offered by Aditya Birla Group. Its mutual fund managing business has an AUM of US $23 billion and is ranked among top 5 in India. ABC also covers businesses like general insurance advisory and equity and wealth management services. Aditya Birla Money MyUniverse is also covered by ABC.
So, my life was totally engaged with Aditya Birla Group either by luck or by choice. But the group is really big for me because it was their since my birth to provide me with shelter, food, clothes, connectivity, job and investments for future.
