InsideIIM Professor of The Year 2020 - What IIM Bangalore Students Have To Say About Dr. Moorthi
"He involves a very innovative pedagogy which makes us think in depth and learn rather than just memorizing and scoring marks. He shows a clear picture of the real world and fulfills the actual goal of an MBA - build an ability to think and take decisions."
"Every professor has his own way of teaching the subject, some focus on case preparations and some depend on text book concepts, but Prof. Moorthi has taught us what it is to "Think" and not just do things for the sake of doing them. If you think critically, we have never been creating our own theories but have merely been applying the concepts derived by others, for most of our life. Prof. Moorthi's line, "I am an old fashioned thinker, I think about thinking" is what sums up my reason for nominating him."
"He is one of the best in the field. As the saying in IIM B goes - if one wants to learn marketing, YLR Moorthi is the one they should look to. His teaching style and his question paper is something which helps one to understand the core of the subject."
"Prof Moorthi's rendition of the subjects Marketing Management and Brand Management with clear-cut, wordly examples and the succinct, on-point, detailed analyses can't be beaten by any Professor-class combination.. The way he smash opens the frameworks of branding and makes students think is quite brilliant!"
Here's what the Professor of The Year series is all about, and why it matters.
The following are professors at IIM Bangalore who just missed out on winning the title of InsideIIM's Professor of The Year in 2020, but are loved by IIM B students:
Chetan Subramanian - “Macroeconomics sets the stage in which the business world operates. However, economics is considered hard to understand because there's no one answer to solve any economic problem. Professor Chetan brilliantly explains how multiple economic facets are linked together and how an economic measure affecting one factor will have an impact on multiple other factors. He always uses real world happenings to back up the economic theories.”
J. Ramachandran - “He challenges you to think long and hard and brings about a change in your perspective. His classes are the best classes I've attended in IIM B. He has probably changed my life.”
Sourav Mukherji - “Different Pedagogical Style. Very approachable. Very friendly. True Mentor!”
Special note - Professor Mukherji has been voted by 2nd-year students at IIM Bangalore as the InsideIIM Professor of The Year in 2020!
