CA and MBA was always out of my list of career options, as they were too cliché to be considered as an option, something that everyone chooses to pursue. And here I am, standing at the threshold of completing MBA with eyes beaming with excitement and aspirations, to form my career around Management, a domain which I didn’t even cared to give a thought a few years back. So what fuelled this change of thought? Finance. Finance entered my life through Economics fests organized by my department, a subject called Financial Economics which was my safe haven from the mind numbing theories of Economics and through all the tiny moments in the form of listening to eminent Financial experts, learning Financial jargons through newspapers, scrolling through Bloomberg to pass time and brainstorming to infuse creativity into finance at the time of fests, which brought me closer to and increased my fondness for  Fin world.

And then began the journey to ace CAT to enter a premier b-school. I joined a coaching in April to give structure to my preparation and regularity. At first, it appeared to be an unachievable dream, juggling between college, its commitments and CAT. But what better time to apply management skills than this? I made sure to not compromise on regularity and decided to weigh in my strengths and weaknesses in the initial few months. I remember in June,in one of the Achievers’ meet, I met people who converted the premier b-schools and could feel the content and pride in their eyes, I wanted to feel the same for myself. That day I returned feeling motivated like never before. And then I began strategizing and steadily building concepts, taking mocks, revising and doing everything to not leave any stone unturned. Ofcourse there were times when all this felt to be useless, can’t be achieved, that you need superhuman powers to not leave behind any piece to complete the puzzle that is life but it is in these moments that you got to hold tight and not give up because there is no greater feeling than finally getting a call from the premier b-schools and moving a step forward. I sat for placements to overcome my fear of interviews and taught myself to articulate thoughts effectively. And then today is the day when I am excited and waiting to start a new phase of life as a MBA student, to observe and absorb as much as I can from what this abode of knowledge has to offer.

I feel MBA at IIM Rohtak is my launching pad, to form a foundation of my career, give a head start and a direction to my career flight. Apart from meeting people from different walks of life, learning from eminent faculties and to focus more on academics (a mistake which I made in my undergrad), I want to focus on holistic development, enhance and learn as much practical knowledge I can and most importantly, not to lose myself in the crowd and leave the institution as a more aware, responsible and clear minded individual-the determinants of a true manager.
