Part A

Aditya Birla Group touches millions in the world. I am one of them. Today when the Aditya Birla Group is a $40 billion (Rs.2.45 trillion) corporation, with its presence in over 36 countries, it brings closer the world by affecting everyone similarly.

Just 10 days after independence, Grasim Industries Ltd, the flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, was incorporated on 25 August 1947. From then, it has now become the global leader in almost all the sectors it has set foot in. In 1996, Kumar Mangalam, Aditya Vikram Birla’s son consolidated all group companies under the umbrella of the Aditya Birla Group. Since then, there has been no looking back.

The conglomerate has spawned across several industries and has managed to leave a mark in each of them. Be it the Aluminum industry, or the Cement industry or the telecom industry or the retail industry or the Financial Services industry, the lack of any correlation amongst them has not deterred the Group in any way, but they have only grown stronger and higher.

ABG affects an individual on a daily basis. In many different ways. From using a phone with Idea Cellular network, to flaunting clothes bought at Allen Solly, to enjoying the drive at the Bandra-Worli sea-link, Aditya Birla has been a part of my life through many ways.

To the society, it has strived to make it a better place to live in for all of us. The CSR initiatives under Education, Livelihood, Healthcare, Infrastructure, etc. impact the society I live in and makes it sustainable and ever-growing.

Part B

“In business, one has to constantly interact with people, and work in teams across a range of product, geographic and functional areas – and a full range of competencies need to be deployed to deal with the situation at hand.”

- Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group

The various facets of ABGLP programs include Group Internship Program (GIP), Leadership Associate Program (LEAP), Leadership Program for the Experienced (LEAD), Human Resources Leadership Program (HRLP) and the Finance Leadership Program (FLP). At the core of these programs are the people who desire to make an impact by overcoming the challenges faced. They believe that meeting and interacting with the right people is the key to gain knowledge from the skills and experiences they have accumulated.

I have always strived to achieve my ambitions by developing a structured approach to develop the pathway to reach my goal. That goal, is the first step towards designing a strategy. I have always visualized a set goal and that defines the further steps undertaken. The second important step that is essential is to think big. When you dream big, you can much easily surpass the obstacles or road-blocks that appear in the way. I strive to never lose track of the path which I’ve set and dedicate appropriate energy and time to achieving it. Along with this, it is necessary to be aware of the happenings in the world to be aware of the current scenarios and constantly evolving to keep pace with the ever-changing world.
