How Aditya Birla Group touches millions in the world?

Aditya Birla Group, a US $44.3 billion corporation, is an Indian multinational conglomerate operating in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide, is headquartered in Mumbai, India. The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. Since it was founded in 1857, it has grown to become the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate operating in across 5 continents. It has more than 72 manufacturing and services subsidiaries throughout the world.

I was shocked the first time when I came to know brands like Allen Solly, Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Peter England are manufactured by ABG. Then I started looking into ABG in-depth and came to know how important it is in our lives. It is involved in manufacturing of Cement, Jute goods, PVC floor covering, Auto trims (jute felt-based car interiors), Aluminium products, Textiles, Ready made garments, Financial services, Telecommunications, BPO and software services, Exports etc.

The fact that ABG is into many industries, yet there is steady growth and development makes them what they are today. They became a Financial Dynasty in the 19th century. With independence, Birla began developing his industrial empire in earnest. By mid-1970s ABG has become an International Pioneer. By the end of decade, Aditya Birla, then 24 years old, was placed in charge of companies Grasim, Hindalco, and Indian Rayon.

The continuous efforts towards success, getting better each and every day and their focus on developing on areas of development is something that I have learnt from ABG. These are the qualities that I want to incorporate in my daily functioning as well. I am grateful to ABG for unintentionally teaching me what a brand could mean.

How I overcame my biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge always has been cracking a Personal Interview. My life was easy until the 4th year of my Under Graduation where we had placements. I could get through the initial rounds of more than 10 companies but couldn't get through the Personal Interview. I couldn't get placed because of the challenge "Personal Interview", in any of the companies having had many opportunities.

After I had decided to do MBA for career growth, I knew I had to clear Personal Interview to get into a b-school. I joined an institute to prepare for MBA exams where we had short lectures of how to overcome the interview barrier. I analyzed where I was going wrong previously and worked on my weaknesses, gave mock PIs. I was able to clear NMIMS, Bengaluru interview and at present I am pursuing PGDM course from NMIMS, Bengaluru.
