Impact of AGB on my life-SDA Bocconi Asia Center How ABG has been inseparable in my life:I remember going on rides in Hindusthan Ambassador which was owned by my grandfather in the late 90s, almost in all of my summer vacations. This was the first Birla Group product that I was associated with. I always have this image of a stack of Ultratech Cement bags that used to be present in my father’s factory. My father owns a bricks and tiles manufacturing factory and also cement dealership in ultra tech. Even today he says that he uses only Ultratech cement for manufacturing of bricks or interlocking tiles because of its superior quality. In class 6th visiting the More supermarket that came up for the first time in my locality was like a daily routine. I used to go into store right after school, walk down all the aisles and but something(either food or stationary ) with the daily pocket money that I used get and come home. The first pair of formals that I owned and wore for my first job interview was from Allen Solly. 80% of my father’s wardrobe is from Linen Club. Aditya Birla Group has been a part of many of the best memories that I had in my life. How I overcame the hurdles in my life to achieve my ambition:Three years back, I was at College, preparing for my placements, completely confused of what I wanted my future to be. I took CAT and ended up with a score not so great in 2016. I got placed in Newgen Software Technologies for a final internship which I converted to full time employment. It was a product based company and had quite a different type of work than most of the big MNCs had. Even though I liked my job, I wasn’t totally satisfied with it. When I told my parents that I wanted to do a MBA and planned to appear for CAT again, they backed me. I strived hard for 8 months by travelling for 3 hours on weekends to attend coaching classes and taking out time on week days from the hectic office schedule as I became a key resource for the project within a few months of joining the job. Preparing for CAT along with a full-time job was a bigger task than I imagined it to be. I was confident of scoring well in CAT 2017, but the result was the opposite. My percentile was nowhere near good for me to get into a good b-school. I was wrecked as my second attempt also did not go well. My parents stood by me even when I was in doubt about my decision of doing a MBA. I started preparing for entrance exams again on my own. I gave up my job 2 months before CAT exam.I got a decent score in all exams I appeared, cleared all the b-school interviews that I got calls for. Finally landed in one of the best emerging b-schools in our country, SDA Bocconi Asia Centre.I am an optimist by nature and always believe in myself. Self-doubts did poke me many a time, but I fought hard to overcome them so as to not lose hope and confidence. I persevered and succeeded.
