Part A:
A conversation about the Aditya Birla Group can not be complete without mentioning their immense role in the cement industry. Be it roads, hospitals, hotels, even our own homes, the contribution of Aditya Birla Group is immeasurable. It is such an integral part of the industrial sector which itself is a major contributor to our GDP.
Aditya Birla Group is present in all the sectors and not only cement.
From the roads we travel on, to the clothes we wear, to the food we eat, to the cement that builds the foundation of our homes: Aditya Birla Group contributes to our lives in a significant manner on a day to day basis.
Clothing from brands like Peter England and Allen Solly make up a bulk of my wardrobe. These brands have thrived under the guidance and leadership of ABG. Even high end brands such as Van Heusen and Louis Phillipe and Ralph Lauren make for great clothing options for the Indian youth. Another brand that appeals to the youth is clothing stores such as Pantaloons and Forever 21. ABG has a deep understanding of the clothing needs of the young India.
Not only clothing, ABG’s presence can be felt in not only the bakery products we consume, but the aluminum foil and the cling wraps as well. ABG has businesses in the sugar industry also. What a sweet deal!
The products and services offered by Aditya Birla Group mentioned above is just the tip of the iceberg. ABG has a very diversified portfolio and they cater to a large number of people.
Part B:
I have been independent from a very young age. I went to live in a hostel when I was 10 years old and has been out of my home ever since then. I had developed a certain goals for myself, that somehow did not align with what my parents had in their mind for me. Though whatever my parents do, I understand they do with the best of intentions, keeping my wellbeing in their mind. While giving CAT exam in 2018, I had a lot of opposition from my family as they wanted me to join the family business. I wasn’t interested in joining the family business and wanted to pursue further studies. This led to a kind of friction between me and my family. This got exaggerated by the fact that my Grandmother got diagnosed with Lung Cancer about the same time I started my studies for CAT. I had to balance my time between the business, studies and family commitments. But I was able to secure 95.55 percentile and get admitted in to a good college. That is when I felt that I have accomplished something and risen above the succeeded even after having many reasons that would have made me fail.
