Aditya Birla Group to most non-MBA aspirants is like the invisible hero, someone who has been there in most aspects of your life and yet his contributions aren’t well known. I remember the first time I had to go shop for western formals for my MBA interviews. Being a girl with no work experience this was uncharted territory for me. Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Forever 21 and Pantaloons were my options. Little did I know these “options” all fall under one giant umbrella, which I so casually ignored.
In all honesty I didn’t know the extent to which ABG was in my life, not until I wrote this article. This 162-year-old conglomerate has been all around us. With the UltraTech cement advertisement we grew up with to the Allen Solley we grew into, ABG has been there as a jingle and also my confidence booster before the nerve-wracking interviews.
I was hoping to make an exhaustive list as to how ABG has impacted my life. Within ten minutes of my research I realized that, it would be impossible to do so. ABG has its ties in every major industry (with UltraTech Cement still strongly embedded in my fond memories). Who knew my Idea sim card was ABG’s giving!
I believe the simplicity of the group is its very power. The ability to survive for over a century and yet impact the youth of the world shows how quietly and steadily ABG has evolved with the world. This is just the overdue gratitude to my “India’s No.1 cement”.
