Aditya Birla has more than 15 brands in fashion industry including pantaloons, people, allen solly,
peter England, etc. Fashion is the very first expression of success of a free nation. Fashion is
celebration of joy. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited is the number 1 Fashion Lifestyle Company
of India. As I am really enthusiastic about art, crafts and fashion, it has made a huge impact on my
life.
Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. has emerged after the consolidation of the branded apparel
businesses of Aditya Birla Group. ABFRL was found with an aim that the first sign of success of a
modern nation lies in the capability of its citizens to celebrate the joys in life. India's young population
and economic performance has led to an increase in income combined with increase in global
exposure, and empowering many latent wants to transform into demands. With retail expanding
independently through brick and mortar as well as e-commerce, the Indian fashion consumer now
deserves futuristic and comprehensive omni-channel options.
With operations as my major and marketing as my minor, I understand the everchanging wants and
needs of the Indian community and I believe it provides the best experience to the targeted audience.
Van Heusen and Allen Solly are top brands in formal clothing, and pantaloons is the inexpensive
clothing brand for the middle class. Ralph Lauren and Louis Philippe are the best for high income
group fashionistas. These brands are just not a clothing apparel, they are the lifestyle, an experience
that a customer buy.
In my first year in college at LNMIIT, I applied for the basketball team and was selected. We found out that for
the last three-four years, our team had never won a match in our annual sports fest, Desportivos(held
in January). We promised ourselves to take it a notch higher, by at least qualifying for the semi-finals.
By the starting of October 2014, we had started full-fledged practice sessions. Roughly, we had three
to four months to prepare for the tournament. We started our two hour sessions by working out (warm
up sessions) for an hour daily followed by a practice match. With time we increased our pace, and
started practicing for almost three hours. The boy’s team had been performing spectacularly well, in
different tournaments, so they helped us in understanding different game strategies and improve our
stamina and skills by playing against us. In January, around twenty days before the match we started
practicing for almost two hours in the morning and three hours in the evening. All throughout, we
restricted ourselves from eating any junk food or even going to a restaurant more than once a month.
We also worked on strategies, building different types of game plans, for different teams. We learnt
new moves, new techniques using YouTube and with the help of our coach and seniors.
The main challenge for me was, being a flat foot; it is painful and takes more effort to run at a stretch.
After the practice sessions, I had to soak my legs in salt water for hours so that I could alleviate the
pain and report to the court with the same energy the next day. One day I almost quit. I called our
captain and told her, I could not do it. She asked me to take a day off and then report at the court the
next day. That day I realised, it doesn’t matter how much it affects you, or how much pain you are in,
if you have hope and you are willing to persevere you can succeed. That year, first time the LNMIIT
saw girl’s basketball team as a winner. We made it to semi-finals, but could not make it to the finals.
But we never stopped practicing and won the tournament next year.
