It was during the end of 2017 when I decided to pursue an MBA. At that time, I was about to end my training in Bangalore with Company-XXX and had to move to Hyderabad for a project. Luckily, I got into a development project where I knew my office timings would be fixed and I could plan how to get about with my preparations for CAT.

Unfortunately, my manager got to know about my plans and asked my team lead to bombard me with tasks which had strict deadlines. After 2-3 weeks I realized that my preparations were going nowhere due to workload. I had no other option but to tell my team lead about my plans. To my astonishment, she was impressed with my decision and promised to help me out with the situation.

During the office hours, she started helping me with the tasks so that I was able to finish it off before time and could sneak some time for sectional tests and revision. We started having intense discussions about my preparations. Sometimes she would get so involved and excited if I didn’t score well that I needed to tell her to calm down.  I suggested her to request the manager for 1-2 buffer resources for the project. After the approval, I was able to save a lot of time because of their help in completing the documentation part.

Slowly I started to focus better on my studies and job. I knew getting excited will not help. I needed to have a clear mind but that didn't mean I lacked intensity. My interest in technology and attitude of never giving up helped me complete tasks before time. My manager had to eventually turn off his focus from me. The way my team lead helped me find time for my preparation was one of the factors in my successful journey.

Now that I’m here at IIT Kanpur beginning my 1st semester I feel happy about how I was able to manage my time successfully. My decision to prioritize the things for my future helped me get through. It also taught me that relationships also play a major role in shaping your destiny. I owe my lead every bit of my success. It’s very important to let others know about your priority.

This is one instance where I was busy with a problem and also attending a standup meeting. #MBAIITKANPUR
