It was the 16th of February when I received a mail from SJMSOM – IIT Bombay which included elating news of me getting shortlisted for the Personal Interview Round. After getting rejected from the Top 6 IIMs, this came to me like a ray of hope to study in one of India’s top B-schools. Eventually, I gave my interview which went pretty decent and was offered admission. I am an Electronics Engineer and I joined SJMSOM as a fresher. I scored 99.41 percentile in CAT 2021 and I have a moderate profile with 95-91- 85 in academics. I was excited as well as stressed as I had a lot to learn. One thing that helped me as a fresher was that, I was in touch with my engineering concepts, so I was well prepared to answer them.

My interview was on the 6th of March and I had the afternoon slot (1 PM – 6 PM). So I had pretty much time to freshen up and get ready for the interview. It all started with me getting introduced to this beautiful platform known as Gather. This platform was a mini digital university, It had document verification rooms, waiting halls, interview rooms, and even a helpdesk to help you navigate through the platform. Before even joining the college, I was amazed by the type of technology they used to simulate online interviews in an offline setting. This just boosted my confidence and it was on my mind that I have to convert this college.

We all at first gathered in the virtual hall room and then the adcom members directed us towards our respective interview rooms and document verification rooms. After entering the three-member panel, I was asked to introduce myself, the first cliched question that everyone asks. I started with my brief introduction stating my name and undergrad college and then ended with my hobbies and interests. Then they slowly started asking me about different electronic gadgets and their operations and current affairs concerning them. The panelists seemed to be curious about my answers instead of grilling me with questions. My interview went pretty decent and I was satisfied enough.

When the final shortlist came, I was a bit disappointed as I was waitlisted, but eventually, after the 5th waitlist, I got admission to this prestigious institute.
