Aditya Birla Group is one of the few companies which started in 19th century and have made a tremendous growth post-independence. The company has many verticals and making a significant progress in each namely fibre, metal, chemicals, fertilizers, telecom and IT. It is not easy for one to tell that which segment of Aditya Birla has touched her life the most. I have my house built from Aditya Birla cement, my father’s favorite brand is Louis Philippe. My dream college of education was BITS, Pilani. If I am asked to pick one vertical, I will choose BITS Pilani, as being a student I found it the most related field. The college is bringing laurels to the students studying in terms of quality education, placement offers and brand value. BITS Pilani is recognized in “College of Excellence” by department of ministry, which acts as a feather in the hat for its reputation.
Besides this, to attract workforce from industry sector, BITS has collaboration with many IT companies (like TCS), aspiring candidates who have industry experience can get into BITS with their education sponsored. In this way, BITS is making a perfect amalgamation of IT background students and freshers. It is adding a value to the IT sector also, as the students might to back to their employer after gaining post graduation degree and can now work on practical aspects back in the industry.
The founder of Aditya Birla Group was close to Mahatma Gandhi. In those days, the primary focus was on textile market which was benefited by Gandhi’s anti-British movement. After independence, Aditya Birla grew in national industries such as copper, cement and aluminium. Not only this, Kumar Mangalam Birla takes corporate social responsibility more seriously than his peers, and have established 41 schools, 18 hospitals in remote areas, providing support to more than 3700 villages.
Part B: I firmly believe in the quote “whatever worth having, does not come easy”. This quote kept me inspiring and focussed on my goal in times of blue. Being from a middle class family, with eight members, life is not always a cakewalk. I have done graduation from Aligarh Muslim University which is known for its quality education at minimal tuition fee. My younger sister is perusing medicine from the same university. I believe it is our parents who have inculcated the importance of quality education and hard work in us since childhood.
After i finished graduation. I landed on an IT job in one of the top giants. It was always a plan to have some industry exposure and then foot on masters. But as it is said, when money starts to flow in, a comfort zone gets established. I started supporting my parents and siblings with my hard earned money. But a sense of satisfaction was missing. I was performing good in the silo job role, but I wanted to see the bigger picture. I wanted to look at the business from the perspective of the CEO, how policies are designed, how the decision of adding/removing a new vertical is taken, how the interest of stakeholders is kept paramount. To find out the answers of all these questions, I decided to turn up for MBA. The journey to MBA college was full of ups and downs, managing study with a demanding 9 hours job was not an easy task. I cut down my lunch time in office, cut down my sleeping hours, cut down time from leisure activities, these cuttings gave me a time of 3-4 hours daily to study. During weekends, I used to study for 6-8 hours. Slowly, things started building up, written exam done, interviews done, and finally the D-day happened when I got the offer letter from one of the prestigious institute of my choice, that too with the award of scholarship. The morale, I learnt is “keep Moving, persistence is the key in life”
