Taking the last trip of my under graduation, I landed in Mumbai-the city of dreams. All dressed up in my new Pantaloon dress, I set out with my girl gang to explore the Aamchi Mumbai. Even at 12 in the night the city buzzed with activity as we crossed the Bandra-Worli Sea link to reach the Gateway of India from Lokhandwala. Constructed using the UltraTech Cement, it was a sight to behold. The sheer massiveness and the beauty of its architecture was something I had never witnessed in India. I felt bad that my parents could not be there with me to witness the world famous sea link. But all thanks to my Vodafone Idea network, I was able to video call my parents and show them also the surreal sight in front of me. Even at Nariman Point, I could do the same without the fear of my phone screen breaking because I knew Hindalco Aluminium was protecting my Smartphone’s cover glass. The 1000 miles distance between my parents and me seemed to disappear.
Next day, we got up and prepared for our main objective of coming to this city- our MBA interviews. All thanks to Allen Solly and Van Heusen, we were dressed to present our skills and intellect through our power formal suits which gave us the confidence that we were invincible. And today as me and my friends have joined the best institutes; I understand the poise that comes from on point clothing.
All ready to come back to our hometown, we boarded the Rajdhani and felt grateful for Birla Copper whose copper share to Indian railways made our journey safe and fun. The amazing girls’ trip in last year in college could not have been possible without the world-class services of Aditya Birla group. It gave me memories of a lifetime.
And when I talk of lifetime, how can I forget my own journey that has been full of ups and downs all of which today I see as learning experiences.
Born in the late 90s, I feel blessed today that I am living a life where I have seen the rise of a technology based globalized world and experienced the rich culture of India where people try to amalgamate their diverse values with this new inclusive culture.
I have fallen in the face of challenges but I also have been lucky enough to have the strength and support around me to always get back up with a smile and determination.
With both parents working, I and my elder brother faced a lot of issues staying alone after school hours. I learnt to be independent as well as responsible in my early foundation years. Whether it was doing all the chores by own self or talking to visitors, it was these experiences which taught me to never be afraid. But my parents always made sure that the evening time was completely devoted to our activities. Therefore, due to my upbringing I grew up to understand the value of time and task management which helped me manage participation in multifarious activities along with my academics.
Coming from a family of doctors and engineers, the decision to take up humanities in class 11th was not an easy one. It was a shock to my family and friends who were, like me unaware about the scope of humanities. A sense of uncertainty prevailed in my home for couple of months. But not being hasty, I and my parents talked to career counselors and teaching professional to understand the area of social sciences.
But even after taking up humanities, life wasn’t easy. Dealing with new subjects was scary but also interesting. The two years also helped me develop an all-rounded personality by participating in various national level MUNs and Parliamentary debates.
Life can always take unexpected turns and twists. Life taught me this when after my 12th standards, due to health concerns I had to take a break. The few months broke my confidence. But certain opportunities help you regain faith. This happened when I joined the Transformers Value Creators as a training intern. The internship not only introduced me to the in-depth working of a startup but also helped in my personal development.
This helped me understand the importance of taking intuitive decisions and showing commitment and passion towards those decisions. And thus when I decided to do an MBA after a social sciences degree, I knew it was unconventional but I also knew that it was meant for my interests as well as skills. Today, when I study in one of most prestigious B-Schools of the country, I know the journey ahead might not be an easy one but it is one full of leanings and professional growth.
